Especially now, I don’t really like multiplayer. My relationship with online games has always been:Join a game your friend is playing → Get the game that too Joining games my friends are playing → friends stop playing → now incredibly angry at strangers in line to compete solo, eventually going back to single-player RPGs. I have never met and made new friends through video games or the video game community, but oddly enough, I have made friends through video games. twitter everywhere. But while I know some people make friends through the games they play and participate in online communities, real-world…

Every time I watch the 1989 anime version, this line catches my attention. little mermaid This is not famous. It’s not the “Part of Your World” lyric, nor Ariel’s defiant “but I love you daddy” lyric, nor Sebastian’s witty digression. That’s towards the end of the movie, when Triton finally realizes that Ariel would be happier on land and uses a magical trident to give Ariel a leg. After that, he turned to Sebastian and said: “I think there’s only one problem left with her: how much I’ll miss her.” This moment has more impact than any other line in…

More recently, the revival of classic shooters has resulted in some compelling games, such as the excellent Prodeus. But it takes a hook to stand out in this new age of his DOOM-esque blow-up game. Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun definitely has it thanks to the unmistakable Warhammer 40k aesthetic. You play as a big, bulky Space Marine whose controller vibrates every time you walk. Armed with a chainsword and, eventually, a plethora of oversized guns, you are tasked with purging the heretics, which are essentially scrap planets. Progress from level to level, slaughtering anything that gets in your way. This campaign…
