Avatar: The Way of Water, the third-highest-grossing film of all time and a film focused on protecting the natural world, returns to theaters this week to celebrate Earth Day. The film returns for a special IMAX 3D showing on Friday, April 21st.
You can get tickets for a screening near you on the IMAX website (Via ComicBook.com).
In another effort to celebrate Earth Day, 20th Century Studios is hosting an “Immersive Art Experience” this weekend at the Lighthouse Art Space in Los Angeles. Tickets are free, but Reservations must be made through the Lighthouse website here.
The exhibit features “immersive” art based on scenes from The Way of Water. There are also movie props, costumes and life-size statues.
Writer-director James Cameron said screen runt He hoped that people who saw “The Road of Water” would be inspired to think about what they could do to protect the oceans of the earth.
“I’m not just telling you to send $10 to Greenpeace. I’m talking about how we can work together to protect this wonderful, beautiful and amazing thing on earth. Go to Alpha. No, Centauri wants to see cold waters,” Cameron said.
However, you don’t have to go to the theater to see The Way of Water, as the movie can be purchased digitally at home. It will probably come to Disney+ at some point, but no date has been announced yet.
The Way of Water is about to make over $500 million in profits. That success means Cameron will move forward with Avatar 3 in his 2024, and then Avatar 4. These films were shot in succession as the young actors were developing rapidly. Avatar 5, which will bring the story to Earth, has been discussed, but not yet locked.
