The turn-based strategy game Inkulinati is coming to Xbox Game Pass soon. We spoke to Yaza Games about their Game Pass experience and how it “looks like a win-win situation for both developers and players.”
Inkulinati is one of those games that we’ve had our eye on for a while. Seeing him wage war over the pages of medieval manuscripts, he’ll be out with his Xbox Game Preview on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Xbox Game Pass on January 31st. To learn more about the Game Pass experience, the developer reached out to Yaza Games and producer Ryszard Kieltyka was kind enough to answer his questions.
Xbox Game Pass “seems to be a win-win situation for developers and players alike,” said the developer at Inkulinati.
“The whole process was very smooth and painless. What I’m about to say next may sound cheesy, but from the very beginning of our chat, you can tell that the whole Xbox team is passionate about the game. Okay,” said Kieltyka. He talks about Yaza Games’ partnership with Microsoft to bring Inkulinati to Game Pass. “From the way they spoke and the way they acted, I could tell they cared about their player base. It was also great to work with them from the development side as well. How our partnership turned out In that respect…we were lucky, Xbox liked our demo and our vision for the game, they gave it a try, thought it was good, and offered Inkulinati to Game Pass players. They wanted to give it to me, and it was hard to say no!”
Kieltyka goes on to add: From the beginning, they treated us as equal partners, believing that they could provide us with a game. I decided to create a game. ”
We asked Kieltyka how he thinks subscription services like Game Pass will benefit the industry as a whole. “I think services like Game Pass are great for the industry. It’s clear that Game Pass brings a lot of value to players. I’ve been a long time subscriber myself, so I can say that! The great thing is that it exposes people to a lot of games and genres of games they might not have come across on their own,” he says. , what about smaller indies? And it’s these smaller games that can creatively move the entire industry forward. If they become popular, another advantage of subscription services is that players can discover all these new genres and fall in love with them without taking this perceived financial risk. There may be a lot of hidden turn-based fans among Xbox fans who don’t know the genre, and they’ll try Inkulinati and turn-based fanatics just like us. I hope you will become one!”
Also, when asked if there would be any downsides or long-term consequences of playing games on Game Pass, he said, “I don’t think or feel that way. Certainly, the games added to the service are There will be more, storefronts,” says Kieltyka. “And this is a personal anecdote, so I’ll take it with a grain of salt, but if I end up playing a game I really like on Game Pass, I might buy it on another platform as well. Having Game Pass seems like a win-win situation for both developers and players, another big advantage is that studio personnel will also benefit from being part of Game Pass. You can do it,” Kieltyka continues. “We are extremely proud that our first game caught the attention of Xbox and invited us to Game Pass.”
Additionally, Kieltyka has confirmed that Inkulinati will “eventually include an online multiplayer mode,” so Game Pass will “compete with friends who may not necessarily have Xbox or Game Pass.” I mean more active players who want to join in. This brings in new players and extends the lifecycle of your game. I am very optimistic.”
