Dead Rising 5 Was Heading To Mexico Before It Was Canceled
The plot of Dead Rising: Dia de los Muertos still remains a mystery, but it contains 5 game levels (Barrio, Hotel, Camps, Mayan Temple and Safehouse). Level Designer Nick Sinkewitz (thank you era reset) was involved was based in Mexico. The Barrio level was based on a section of an actual Mexican town, but didn’t seem to get past the gray box stage. Apparently, the most filled level was the camp. Sinkewicz equates this to “a jungle level with lots of zombies to kill, and a final boss called Guapo, who is a “crazy kind of drug lord with an electrically charged metallic fake arm”. Several gang bases to raid.”
The second video shows an early prototype of a loot container mechanic designed to “contextualize different drops, clean up the environment, and free up memory.” This footage is from his 2017, the year after the release of Dead Rising 4. This unannounced game was the result of Capcom Vancouver’s promise to focus on its flagship Dead Rising franchise. Unfortunately, development seemed to come to a chilling halt in 2018 when the studio closed and the game was subsequently cancelled.
