Earlier this week, Blizzard entertainment canceled Overwatch 2 PvE mode hero mission. After all, these missions were part of a larger plan now defunct. In fact, PvE hero missions were the second phase of his three-phase plan leading to a new MMO.
Way back in 2013, a first-person shooter MMO called Project Titan was canceled by Blizzard Entertainment (although it was officially announced in 2014). Several members of that development team moved to a new team called Team 4 to work on Overwatch. However, they still consider themselves to be his MMO team and have made plans for his three-step return to MMO development.
The first step was to create Overwatch using assets from Project Titan, which turned out to be a “huge hit”. The second step in the plan was a PvE-only version of him that combined Overwatch 2 hero and story missions. Ultimately, this leads to an MMO that truly fulfills its original vision. Project Titan. ”
So what was the problem?
According to Overwatch 2’s current game director Aaron Kellerthe team[wasn’t] “I was as focused as I should have been on the blockbuster game,” he said, so focused on the project that he could no longer get a job. The result is a new roadmap for Overwatch 2 that will continue to include story missions along with co-op content.
Overwatch still has a future, but it’s no longer in the form of a new version of Project Titan.
