The time has finally come.Cursed to Golf launched today on PS5 and PS4.Two years of hard work and passion to get here. The team and I are extremely proud of our game. We hope you all take a virtual trip to the afterlife and spend your days at Golf Purgatory. Last time I was here, I talked about the general rules of Supernatural Golf, the incredible power of the ace card, and some shenanigans you can get into between holes. Let’s get to some of Cursed to Golf’s more dangerous elements today. After all, it’s worth taking some risks if you want to get out of golf purgatory.
who is the boss?
At the end of each biome is the ultimate challenge of the legendary caddy who oversees that part of the course. It is home to the Scotsman in Purgatory, the Explorer in the desert, and the Forgotten in the Caverns. These golf battles have slightly confusing gameplay and some differences from the traditional purgatory golf gameplay you encounter on the rest of the course. Not only do you have to keep an eye on the shot counter, you also have to sink the ball in front of the boss to defeat him. However, these battles include shot idols that replenish the shot count, plus stun his idols. Smashing any of these will knock down the boss and miss your turn.
These golfers hit incredible shots that defy the laws of physics and don’t play. If you want to take down the Legendary Caddies, you’ll need to master your Ace cards, take advantage of the best shortcuts, and smash through a number of totems on your way to the flagpole. Luckily, the boss hole always stays the same, so you can learn as you play and experiment to find the best strategy for completing it.
High Road or Low Road?
Scotsman’s holes are designed for his signature long drives. There are also hazards and shortcuts scattered both above and below, so don’t forget to use Birdie’s Eye to figure out the true location of the land and plan which path you want to take. Defeating the Scotsman unlocks the “Comeback” boon, giving you a chance to flag a checkpoint once per run. If you (almost certainly) die, you will be returned to your flag instead of going back to the beginning of the course. Not only that, all the Aces he had when he first placed his cards and cash are in hand and ready for another swing on the course.
dune sea
Explorer’s Hole is a dune filled with nightmares. Expect to complete the wedge game as it always lands in bunkers. Besides, explorers have special abilities. She can change holes in the middle of play. You might land on something questionably flat and safe, only to find towering dunes erupting from the ground in front of you. Killing the explorer will give you a “gimme” boon, and a pinch will give her 5 extra shots when her shot count reaches her 0.
not a wonder cave
The Forgotten’s Hole is a deep cavernous maze filled with branching paths, cleverly placed hazards, and tricky fake flagpoles housing golf ball-eating dinosaurs. You’ll be fighting not only The Forgotten, but also her two pet birds, the Eagle and her Albatross. These feathery brighters do nothing to ensure that Forgotten will beat you, and landing on her in one of their zones will send your ball into a hazard. Slam it in, lose the shot, and put it in a difficult spot on the next swing.
They also grab Forgotten’s ball and fly her past difficult obstacles, dropping her into an opportunistic position for the next shot. This is one tough fight for her, but if you win, you can unlock the “healing” boon. Healing allows him to gain one big leg straight from the start of Hall 1, as Ace Cards on death can keep her deck and use it on the next run. Once defeated, you don’t have to face them again on future runs, and you can keep their bounty as well.
Bless or curse?
Speaking of masochists, those who really want to take risks for biscuits can venture into the cursed hole! I often find these at intersections while navigating the map between holes. One route has a pickup and a standard hole, the other route has bonus goodies and finally a skull-covered hole. These cursed holes mess things up by triggering random modifiers every few shots. can include shooting only upside down, courses upside down, and other nasty game obstacles. . The Golf Purgatory adage is true – with high risk comes high reward.
