Class action lawsuit from Cyberpunk 2077 investors reached a settlementand CD Projekt Red to pay plaintiffs $1.85 million.
Back in 2020, investors filed a class action lawsuit against CD Projekt Red, claiming that Cyberpunk 2077’s buggy boot state was being hidden from investors.
The Settlement Covers Eligible Class Members, “Settlement Administration Fees, Taxes, Attorney Fees and Expenses,” etc. An eligible class member is defined as an investor who purchased his CD Projekt Red shares between January 16, 2020 and he December 17, 2020.
Cyberpunk 2077’s launch was erratic and buggy, causing Sony to remove the game from its store. This surprising decision sent CD Projekt Red’s stock price down. Cyberpunk 2077 has been re-added to the PlayStation storefront after CD Projekt Red released a patch that fixed a number of issues.
CD Projekt Red originally intended Cyberpunk 2077 to include a multiplayer component, but those plans were scrapped in favor of fixing existing bugs in the standalone game.
In 2023, Cyberpunk 2077 will get an expansion called Phantom Liberty. This is paid DLC and appears to be the only expansion currently planned for the game. CD Projekt Red is also working on Witcher 4, but the release date is still far away and seems to be in the hinterlands of 2025 and beyond.
