Citizen Sleeper was one of the best cyberpunk games on PC, and now it’s even more. A narrative life-sim RPG that casts you as an escaped synthetic worker in an extraterrestrial colony (sorry, I mean a city on a space station called Erlin’s Eye), has since received several free DLCs. I received an update. We launched last year. The third of them is live now.

Purge follows Flux and Refuge, combining three episodic DLC releases to create something of a more expanded size. They tell the story of a wave of refugees arriving at the station, starting with a ship called the Climbing Briar, and how Arlin’s Eye dealt with these new inhabitants.

The game itself is inspired by video games such as Thief, Dishonored and Fallout: New Vegas, and features a mechanism called a “progress clock” for the passage of time. The progress of the plan is felt concretely. The Citizen Sleeper’s own impact on the clock is evident, ticking as you move toward your goals.
Apocalypse World is a nod because of its focus on player agency through relatively abstract dice mechanics. This also inspired generations of “Powered by the Apocalypse” RPGs to adapt the ruleset.
