deep rock galactic‘s PS Plus release contributed significantly to the IP’s success, according to developer Ghost Ship Games. CEO Soren Lundgaard made this clear on a recent earnings call by the Embracer Group, which owns Deep Rock Galactic publisher and parent company Coffee Stain.
The release of Deep Rock Galactic PS Plus “made the IP even more mainstream”
Deep Rock Galactic is Ghost Ship’s debut game and the only title ever released. Deep Rock Galactic first released on his PC in 2020 to positive reviews. He was then released on PS Plus in January 2022.
“We broke all records for player count and revenue,” Lundgaard said of the game’s full release ( Levitt, reddit). “We entered PlayStation Plus, and 10 million players submitted the game very quickly, started playing, enjoyed new season content, purchased cosmetic DLC, and together we really got together. We had a great time, and this brings Deep Rock Galactic IP even closer to the mainstream.”
Deep Rock Galactic was well received by PS5 players and currently holds an 85/100 rating on Metacritic. The game is also available on his PS4 and is included in the Xbox Game Pass.
