Midnight Society, a development studio founded by Dr. Disrespect, has revealed the name and background details of the multiplayer FPS formerly known as Project Moon. It’s called Deadrop, Midnight Society website (opens in new tab)it is set in the year “2020.b”, in which autonomous megastructures called Refiner States turn toxic air pollutants into a valuable toxic substance called “Space Dust”.
The summary continues as follows. “Once a government-owned facility, a lucrative ‘DUST’ deal has now led to the forced occupation of Refiner States by factions vying for control of the tower and the resources within.” , where members of these factions, Skin and Shin, fight each other and take the role of Cleaners, who now control the skyscrapers of Refiner State.
A “vertical extraction shooter”, Deadrop lets you fight while climbing towers to collect gear and resources so you can survive and extract what you loot. Then use it to fund your next trip. Sounds like Escape From Tarkov transformed into cyberpunk.
Deadrop raised money by selling a $50 Founders Access Pass. This will give players access to six weeks of “snapshot” builds from the early stages of development. The first of these, called snapshot CL 1859, is now being released. The Founder can download it to explore the lair and test his assault rifles in three shooting ranges.
Of course, this is very early in the development process, so most of what you see in player-uploaded videos is subject to change. Games don’t usually come out this early. Deadrop is a perfect example of why.Little to see or get excited about unless you are more alone Emotional streamer (opens in new tab) People who got on the bandwagon.
“The focus of this build was to establish a foundation for core player movement, weapon systems, and introduce an environment to test the first weapons.” midnight society says (opens in new tab)In addition, Snapshot_CL 1859 marks the beginning of code to support authentication, profiles, accounts, dedicated server support, and future Deadrop multiplayer features.
New snapshots are released every 6 weeks. The only thing you can try them at the moment is the procedurally generated Character NFTs that act as in-game avatars (opens in new tab)Additional rounds of the pass and NFTs will be available later.
