The world of F1 is bigger than ever and its popularity is drive to survive series. So it feels only natural that the F1 23 is coming to his PS5 alongside the series’ biggest offering to date. These yearly releases from EA Sports often feel too repetitive to warrant full pricing, but the F1 23 fills the grid with as many things as possible in a dizzying way. . Not all goes well, but Codemasters definitely went for pole position.
F1 23 has a little something for everyone. For those looking for a customized and linear experience, there is Story His Campaign. Want to start your own team? Then Career Mode is back. And there’s a new F1 world for a FIFA-like Ultimate Team experience.
Let’s start with the campaign, which came back after last year’s hiatus. Entitled Breaking Point 2, the film continues the story of Aiden Jackson and introduces up-and-coming Carrie Mayer. If you haven’t played the first story yet, don’t worry, a quick synopsis will get you there in no time. Across his F1 season in 2022 and his 2023, you will be leading and racing his new Konnorsports team, trying to gain a foothold among the sports giants.
If you’ve played the original, there’s not much new in Braking Point 2. You’ll get into the rhythm of the race, attend trackside interviews, and watch the weirdest big-budget movies. Between races you may be called upon to make team principal decisions, and such choices usually involve disappointing one group in favor of another. Combined with interview responses, it’s great to see news stories and social media reacting to the choices we made, the things we said and the races we won. As an example, sometimes the response doesn’t exactly match his first place win, so it’s not as reactive as you might hope. But for the most part, we were content to scroll through news articles, social media feeds, and emails after each race to discover new perspectives on the story.
The story itself isn’t all that different from the first, with egos clashing on and off the track. very F1. However, I had a hard time standing behind the character this time. Through most of his eight hours or so in Braking Point 2 Aiden or the returning Devon He’s not supposed to like Butler, but when you do, we’re already tired of them . The exception is newcomer Carrie Mayer, who has the right balance of likability and cocky confidence.
However, narratively it was a bit frustrating as many issues felt like they were being resolved out of time rather than coming to a natural conclusion. We can only imagine legal minefields, but would love to see other teams really cement their place in the F1 world in future stories. For now, braking points feel too closed and names like Verstappen and Hamilton are just tagged above the passing drivers.
Story issues aside, one of the things the game excels at from the start is its driving. The F1 23 introduces Precision Drive technology, which is vastly improved over its predecessor, making handling, acceleration and braking feel more natural. We’re not personally great at simulations, but if you take driving up to ‘experienced’ (which removes a lot of the assist options) each race becomes more interesting, and increasing the difficulty makes it even more interesting. Every corner and straight is an opportunity for refinement and improvement, and the game’s AI makes racing an addictive entertainment that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Whereas other racing titles are all about hitting the gas, the F1 23 is all about showing discipline, and the new and improved racing feel makes it a pleasure to get behind the wheel.
We had some visual and performance related issues with the F1 22, but we’re happy to say that the F1 23 has a smoother and more polished experience. The game runs at 60 frames per second and motion looks great. It’s not the best-looking racer by any means, and it could certainly spice up the color palette depending on the track, but it was often impressive to see it blast its way through crowds of fans at 200 mph. .
The PS5’s integration of DualSense has certainly made it even better, which is really nice. Every chicane, gearshift and bump can be felt in the palm of your hand and you can really feel the speed of these vehicles through the adaptive he trigger.
When the campaign ends, many will be looking to Career Mode, and that hasn’t changed at all since last year. But it was his F1 world that caught our eye. This is a really popular spot for those looking for a more fulfilling experience. Here, in races he earns XP and components, which he uses to upgrade everything from car performance to sponsorships that drivers earn. Each upgrade element comes with its own on-track perks, allowing you to create faster and more powerful builds for your drivers and cars, similar to Destiny and more recently Diablo IV. This is very interesting. Sound gives you more goals than just driving faster.
Upgrading your driver’s license gives you access to higher ranked races, with longer, more hardcore races that are steadily more immersive and closer to the real experience. There is also a 35% race distance option for those who don’t want to spend 30 minutes on a single race. Prior to release, online races weren’t filled with real players and many places were taken over by AI, but the races can be tough and we’re confident it will satisfy die-hard fans doing.and for those looking for more The experience promises a rotating onslaught of challenges and events inspired by the real F1 calendar, ensuring you always have a reason to log on.
If you want to add a little style to your driving experience, you can customize not only the appearance of your car, but your driver as well. There are many ways to customize your profile, including different options for outfits and decals, and even the ability to customize your living space. The expected pitfall of these customization options is that many of them are tied to the game’s Battle Pass (or Podium Pass, coined here). There’s a free track that can provide in-game buffs, but you’ll need to purchase the VIP Edition pass to take advantage of customizable elements like helmets and gloves. Of course, there are still in-game options for those who don’t want to do that, and in our experience, we’ve never been so concerned about what we’re missing.
Conclusion
F1 23 is a tightly packed racing experience that improves on its predecessor in almost every way. In addition to being an immersive and memorable experience on the PS5, it has a little something for everyone, making it a worthy addition to your library for enthusiasts and casual users alike. We loved how the game customized, whether it was a highly assisted racing experience or a brutally immersive racing experience. The campaign doesn’t always hit the mark, and while the F1 world is vast but not necessarily revolutionary, at least it deserves the same care and attention that many other popular sports games have received over the years. It’s nice to see you all come together.
