Despite recent Bloomberg reports (opens in new tab)Considering the Knights of the Old Republic remake was “indefinitely postponed,” the game may still be on the way this year.
according to financial reporting (opens in new tab) From the IP-hungry Embracer Group (opens in new tab) “One of the group’s AAA projects has moved to another studio within the group,” the parent company of the studio working on the game said, adding that “based on this transition, no material delays are expected for the title.” The company said the delay was “to ensure the title has the required quality bar.”
It certainly could be the result of what Bloomberg called a “great shakeup for the studio”.
Embracer did not disclose which developer the project has moved to, but it could be Saber Interactive, who we know began working on the game alongside Aspyr in May. Calling the remake a “big, big product”, it “requires a lot of work and time to get it right”.
There is only one trailer for the Knights of the Old Republic remake (opens in new tab) It’s a feeling more than anything. The extent of the remake and how much it has been altered and maintained from the nearly 20-year-old game is still unknown. Whatever it is, it clearly annoys developers.
