lone lure (opens in new tab)is an upcoming indie from solo developer Rubeki who was instantly hooked with the free demo on Steam. In this first-person plstformer, you play an android exploring the vast industrial ruins of a lost civilization, through an incredibly ancient rusty Hulk, and in some biblical-accurate way, a glitch that brings angels to reality. .
Playing Lorn’s Lure reminded me of last year’s great Scorn (opens in new tab) In a strange way — this is a very different gameplay experience, and things are certainly more lo-fi and less. noisy But those unsettling post-apocalyptic vistas are still familiar.Lorn’s Lure’s demo level made me feel like I was crawling through the guts of a giant beast, just like Scorn.Spooky Ambient Soundtrack It is a wonderful work supported by
A central pillar of Lorn’s Lure’s first-person platforming is a pair of climbing axes, enabling a stamina-limited climbing system reminiscent of Breath of the Wild and Shadow of the Colossus. Lorn’s Lure presents this vast, vertical level with no clear path forward. It’s up to you to choose your own path across climbable and unclimbable surfaces and find your way to the exit.
The core loop of Lorn’s Lure requires a sense of puzzle-solving and path-finding, and I really appreciate Rubeki’s inclusion of opt-in waypoint hints. If you get lost, you can activate compass points that will point you in the right direction for a period of time. However, it’s intentionally limited, just moving from one set-piece to the next, but that’s part of the appeal for me. It’s the perfect middle ground between the always-on-hand Skyrim GPS and the unfriendly retro experience like an old Jedi…a knight’s game like you’ve never been lost.
This free demo also contains hidden levels that are unlocked by discovering all the hidden collectibles in the base map, and the full game is a rich, engaging and atmospheric platforming experience. It promises to be an experience. Lorn’s Lure currently doesn’t have a release date, but you can check out the demo for yourself and wishlist it. vapor (opens in new tab)while the creator Rubeki is active twitter (opens in new tab) and Patreon (opens in new tab).
