Fall Guys played for free (Opens in a new tab) A change I saw last week that it left Steam and was exclusive to the Epic Games Store. Despite the storefront change, the number of Fall Guys players on Steam has also increased significantly. This was about five times the number of simultaneous players at peak times last month. Not surprisingly, Epic, which set a new record for active players on June 21, when Fall Guys were released, is doing pretty well.
“For Fall Guys, it’s been a week more than twice as big as previous PC CCU records and contributed to a record number of active players in the store last Tuesday,” Epic tweeted. “Thank you for all the new beans! Don’t stumble. Don’t stumble.”
It’s been a big week for @FallGuysGame more than twice the previous PC CCU records and contributed to a record number of active players in the store last Tuesday 🎉 Thanks to all the new beans! Always stumble and never stumble. https://t.co/71DClYRKEiJune 25, 2022
Epic reveals that “a record number of active players” refers to the cumulative number of active players in the store during the day, with Fall Guys making a “strong” contribution to the total.
The number of players for individual games in the Epic Store isn’t immediately available, but fortunately it’s posted on Steam so you can draw reasonable conclusions.according to Steam chart (Opens in a new tab), Fall Guys on Steam has the highest number of simultaneous players in history at 172,026, with a modest total of 350,000 on Tuesday. It’s impossible to say if it includes Steam players, but it’s terribly healthy anyway.
By the way, Fall Guys aren’t available for purchase on Steam, but they’re still banging on Steam, with more than 56,500 peak simultaneous players today. According to Mediatonic, Fall Guys gained a total of 20 million players in the first two days after playing for free.
This kind of sudden rise in players poses some challenges. Mediatonic is still deploying updates to handle the new load. The latest release earlier today makes the following changes:
