Fallout 4 already has a lot of scares, but for those chasing a true horror experience, the 2017 mod “Pilgrim: Dread the Commonwealth” completely turns a post-apocalyptic RPG into a waking nightmare. Thick fog and eerie lighting turned the atmosphere of Fallout 4 into one of pure horror.as i said those daysit looks like a mix of Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl and The Road, with a little The Witch thrown in.
However, not long after Pilgrim arrived, it apparently went offline after some disputes between the mod’s authors. It surfaced again in 2019, but has since been removed again.
Good news for horror fans: as discovered by PCGamesN (opens in new tab), Pilgrim is back. Plus, it’s been remastered. Watch the new trailer above. It looks creepy as hell.
Pilgrim Remastered — ENB and Weather (opens in new tab) Today it reappeared on Nexus Mods and was uploaded by one of the original creators, TreyM. The original overhauled weather has been improved and the mod is now fully compatible with Fallout 4’s DLC. The remaster also includes some new features.
- A custom fog shader designed to complement the game’s existing fog and volume rays
- Weather-adaptive ENB SSAO
- ENB configuration per weather for balanced lighting in all conditions
- A heavily modified DOF shader designed to mimic the behavior of real lenses
- Full 16bpc color accuracy for all color operations with near-zero perceptible banding
I don’t pretend to understand exactly what that means, but if the trailer is any indication, all the work was worth it. .
You can find the Pilgrim Remastered here at nexus mods (opens in new tab)there are also instructions on how to do it and a short list of recommended mods such as: pipboy flashlight (opens in new tab) (you absolutely want it) and Enhanced Lights and FX (opens in new tab).
