Fallout 4 player count jumps up another 54%
Fallout 4 has another impressive week in our TrueAchievements Gameplay Chart, which sees the RPG overtake Minecraft to settle into third — Fallout 76 has also climbed over Rainbow Six Siege to nestle comfortably in fifth. Fallout 4’s accolades don’t stop there, however, as the almost nine-year old game has managed to accrue another huge number of players.
According to our chart data, which is pulled from a sample pool of over 2.5 million random active Xbox accounts, not just TrueAchievements members, Fallout 4 saw an impressive 54% rise in Xbox players following the rollout of the free next-gen update last week. It appears that many players were waiting for the update before jumping into the game.
The next-gen update added Quality and Performance modes to the game alongside three Creation Club content packs filled with quests, items, and more. It was initially thought that the Quality mode was broken, as it runs at 60fps, but Bethesda has somewhat clarified that it is in fact running as it should, despite the patch notes saying Quality Mode targets 4K/30fps. There continue to be complaints that some of the new content isn’t loading either, which we’re still waiting to hear from Bethesda about.
The new Fallout craze can be attributed to Amazon’s brilliant TV show, which initially led to Fallout 4 seeing a 210% rise in Xbox players, and the franchise’s boost in popularity has reportedly got Xbox planning to launch a new Fallout game “sooner rather than later.”
