Hi guys! This is Masayoshi Soken, the main composer of . final fantasy xvi. People tend to think that composers only think about music, but I’m a gamer at heart. I talk a lot about music, but to be honest, I like talking about video games more than music. I’m a gamer old man from head to toe.

By the way, this work has been produced with the thought of approaching the core of the genre of dark fantasy. I think a lot of people will agree, but I feel that music is an integral part of the FINAL FANTASY experience.
This time, we have created a lot of in-game music that will move the player’s heart and maximize the gameplay experience. “FFXVI” is full of such songs, so I hope gamers will enjoy playing it. If you are going to play FFXVI, please turn up the volume a little more and enjoy!
1. land of akon
This is the first track to play when FFXVI is started.
When you boot up your FINAL FANTASY game, you want to play the Prelude first and foremost, right? However, the conventional major-key progression song like Prelude didn’t match the world view of “FFXVI” at all… So we transposed this song to a minor key and arranged it to better express the world view of “FFXVI”.
2. Lion and Rabbit – Defilement of Kneesaa
This track also plays early in the game. It is a song that arranges the melody of the prelude so that players can recognize that they are playing a “FINAL FANTASY” game at an early stage.
The arrangement of this song changes interactively according to the situation in the game, but due to the limitations of the original soundtrack, the recorded songs are arranged differently in the first half and the second half.
3. sail the forbidden sea
This track is played during face-to-face combat with the Dominant. FFXVI has a lot of battle tracks, but did you notice that all the normal battle tracks have the same melody?? If you listen to the melody of this song carefully, you’ll notice that it’s the same melody that is played when fighting monsters on the field…!
FFXVI needed a huge number of tracks, but if we made too many tracks, there would be more variations and more unique melodies, and there was a risk that the overall game music would lack a sense of unity.
So we composed the melodies that were used throughout the iconic elements of the game, such as characters and regions, and arranged them for each situation. This way I was able to avoid having different melodies scattered all over the place.
Four. my lady
As for the third song, this song is an arrangement of “Jill’s Theme” for a certain cutscene.
At this point, you may be asking, “So what is Jill’s theme?” To answer your question, her theme is the song “My Star.” This song is also included in the “FFXVI” original soundtrack, so if you’re interested, please pick it up…! Oh my god! I posted a blatant ad!
Five. find the flame
If you listen to this song as a single piece of music, it’s a little childish song that goes straight from beginning to end without ups and downs. That said, this song should be “Bang!” Please step on the accelerator in situations like “Full throttle !!” during the game! ! ” atmosphere. So this track was intentionally designed this way.
If you’ve played FFXVI to some degree, this song should lift your spirits.
Please listen to it when you want to charge your power for work, study, housework, etc.
However, please be careful not to step on the accelerator too much while driving.
Needless to say, we put a lot of effort into composing the tracks for FFXVI to match the game. It’s nice to listen to it on its own before playing the game, but since it’s a song made for FFXVI, I think it’s 100 times more enjoyable to listen to after playing the game.
That’s all from me! Please enjoy playing FFXVI.
And if you like the music, please incorporate the music of “FFXVI” into your daily life and think about the world of “FFXVI” anytime, anywhere.
