Square Enix has debuted two new Final Fantasy 16 characters related to the rather important summoning (known as Akon in the game).
revealed in blog post Accompanying the new trailer (below), Square Enix introduced Dion Lusage as Dominant (summoning host) of Bahamut, and Barnabas Zatmul, Dominant of Odin.
Dion is the Crown Prince of the Holy Empire of Sambreck, one of the six Realms of Final Fantasy 16, and the leader of the most noble Order of Knights, the Dragoons. Combining his own abilities with the power of Bahamut, Dion is a deadly force in battle and beloved by his people.
However, this isn’t the case for the game as a whole, as Square Enix has hinted at a darker turn of events.
Another ruler, Barnabas, rules over the Kingdom of Warod, but he didn’t start out as high and powerful as Dion. He “arrived on the shores of Ash as a wanderer with no land or title. It was his blade skills that won him the kingdom,” Square Enix said.
Even though Barnabas used Odin’s power to conquer the entire eastern continent and obtained a huge army, he still wants to be at the center of the battle.
Square Enix has made a habit of introducing new characters alongside each Final Fantasy 16 trailer, and in June announced Kupka and Herman (rulers of Titan and Garuda, respectively).
The latest trailer sheds more light on the game’s overall story, and seems to center around the land of Valisea, where the crystals are slowly disappearing. is also introduced in detail.
Final Fantasy 16 is currently playable from start to finish, but Square Enix’s all-star development team has until next summer to get everything right. We’re slowly but surely learning about it, including the names of popular puppy characters.
