Developer: badopticsgames
Launch Price: $16 |£12.59 |AU$23.35
Ever heard of cats? They are the best animals and Catizens are basically a hybrid of RimWorld and The Sims except cats. Because of the cat, you’ve probably already squashed that buy button, but there are a few other things you should know. You need to build a town for cats, but not according to your own whims or fantasies, as that is the nature of cats. It really matters. That’s the hard part. The easiest and probably the most fun part is creating ‘unique cats’ and making sure their homes are as cat-friendly as possible. also hunt for Catizens is in early access and 1.0 will be released in about 6 months with new content added and rough edges removed.

Release: August 19th
Developer: Chuhai Labs
Launch Price: $18 |£15.29 |AU$26.05
It’s basically a side-scrolling platformer with golf. You are a “cursed golfer” trapped in “golf purgatory” and must play golf very well under strange conditions in order to escape from this purgatory. Divided into levels, you have to get the ball into the golf hole before the PAR count runs out. But it won’t be easy, as you’ll find yourself in a purgatory full of supernatural obstacles, spikes, and aggressive things. So expect to be pissed off and entertained by this for a while.
Slaycation Paradise
Steam page (opens in new tab)
Release: August 18th
Developers: affordable acquisitions
Launch Price: $12 |£9.59 |AU$17.20
If you thought this week’s column was too family-friendly, there’s a game about an intergalactic resort about killing things mindlessly. The hybrid has a slightly creepy grin. Basically, each arena in Slaycation Paradise is based on a real-world environment (a run-down city, a quiet farm), but they’re all fueled by the fact that they’re playgrounds for murder. You walk through these environments from an isometric view, shooting things with a multitude of weapons, but you can also play with turrets and barricades.
this rain will never end

Release: August 18th
Developer: Marginal Law
Launch price: $10.39 | £8.23 | AU$14.80
Subtitled “Noir no Adventure Detective (Game)”, this rain never ends, and it’s good that the cat is starring. The main character, Cat Detective, is investigating the mayor’s suicide that caused this onslaught. To solve the mystery, you’ll have to explore the city, chat with different residents, and piece together evidence to get to the truth. About a strange situation. It’s a dark affair, somewhat offset by the fact that you’re actually a charming cat.
