Head of Xbox Game Studios Matt Booty praised Forza Motorsport, the eighth entry in the Forza Motorsport series, in the following episode. Official Xbox Podcast.
“We just did a very comprehensive review of Forza Motorsport,” said Booty. “This is great. It’s going to set the bar high for what simulation games and competitive racing games can be.” These are the words that complement Turn 10’s upcoming games.
Having worked on racing games in the past, Booty also provided insight into how making racing sims has changed and how it hasn’t. Yes, “science fiction-like” tech like ray tracing has become available, but he noted that certain things haven’t changed much. A lot of the processes around how we work with different environments, track surfaces, cars — a lot of it is still the same,” Booth said.
Forza Motorsport is set to release in Spring 2023, coming to Xbox Game Pass at launch on both PC and Xbox. So far, Turn 10 has highlighted how punched-up Forza Motorsport’s graphics and physics are. The studio said it spent a lot of time improving the tire collision model, which led to a smoother, more realistic drive.
