The basic Nintendo Switch Online library got a new game injection tonight.
In addition to SNES and NES games, two Gameboy games are now available in updates to the Switch Online app. The games, in order of initial release, are:
- NES: Xevious (1984/1988): Published by Namco in Japan and Bandai in the west before their merger, Xevious was an early third-party NES title that was one of the first great scrolling shooters in arcade format. Notably, he is one of the first shooters to offer his two combat “airplanes” with both standard guns and bombs for ground targets.
- Game Boy: Burger Time Deluxe (1991): A portable version of the Data East arcade classic about cooking extremely unsanitary food.
- Super Nintendo: Side Pocket (1993): Pool game published by Data East remastered from the 1987 NES game.
- Game Boy: Kirby’s Dream Land 2 (1995): Sequel to the 1992 original (already available on NSO), the debut of Kirby’s animal friends Rick, Ku, and Cain, and the first Dark Matter game. It’s also a game. Kirby his game trilogy of Dreamland 3 and Kirby 64.
