Dedicating its upcoming game, Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened, to fellow Ukrainians, Frogwares released a trailer explaining what to expect in the 2006 crime buster remake.
Ukrainian developer Frogwares said earlier this month that Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened is on track for a Q1 2023 release, despite continued weathering of Russian missile attacks. The studio has released a trailer for the game, showcasing his Unreal Engine 4 remake of his Sherlock adventure from 2006 and dedicating this game to fellow Ukrainians. “This game is dedicated to all those who lost their lives and livelihoods due to the terror that swept our country. Slava Ukraine,” reads the message at the beginning of the new trailer.
Sherlock Holmes: Awakened Trailer
Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened follows Cthulhu as she meets Sherlock Holmes’ detective horror adventure and young Sherlock and Watson take on their first major case. The game was originally released in 2006, but Frogwares rebuilt it from the ground up in his Unreal Engine 4, “significantly” rewriting the storyline in the process.
In this adventure, we can see the pair investigating a cult of eldritch god-worshippers who seek to bring about a world-changing prophecy. The story explores Holmes and Watson’s friendship and dives into the trauma and horror that binds them together via “creative takes” that deliver horrifying, reality-shattering events.
