Not quite the partnership we expected today. (Also, it hasn’t been out for several years.)
GameFreak is kicking off its non-Pokémon project machine again, this time partnering with a Western publisher.
Take Two Interactive indie publishing label Private Division has announced that it has reached an agreement with GameFreak for a new project called “Project Bloom”. The only other detail given was that the game would launch in Take Two’s fiscal year 2026 (April 2025 to March 2026), for an unspecified platform.
GameFreak’s “Gear Project” is an incubator for new game ideas outside of core Pokémon development, with the resulting games being self-published or published by others. His three examples of Gear Project products are HarmoKnight and Pocket Card Jockey on 3DS and Little Town Hero on Switch.
