It’s official – Lana’s planet First play at gamescom 2022! Myself and his team at Wishfully Studios have been busy preparing this playable demo for the show. With that in mind, I wanted to give Xbox fans a little sneak peek of what’s to come and highlight some of the key elements and gameplay mechanics that will debut next week. I have. Now that the household chores are done, let’s talk about games! Lana’s planet The stage is the planet Novo. The story begins when a hostile robot army descends on this lush paradise and the planet’s native girl Lana, along with her sister, are involved in the invasion. As they attempt to escape, Lana’s sister is captured by the attackers. Lonely and afraid, she finds herself at the mercy of the hostile Novo wilderness. However, she soon meets Mui, a cute cat-like creature who comforts her, and they quickly become good friends. Embark on a journey across the world with Mui to uncover the mysterious origins of .
first biome Lana’s planet It is filled with lush forests, vast grasslands, rocky cliff sides, and several cave areas dug deep into the stone. While in this area, Lana and Mui get to know each other. Our gameplay possibilities expand depending on their relationship, like Lana directing Mui to specific areas or performing tasks that Lana can’t. The pair must traverse this landscape, working out environmental puzzles together, as well as navigating tense encounters with robotic invaders. Crouching in the grass hides Lana and Mui from the robot’s sensors. Holding down the LT trigger will cause Lana to crouch, move slowly and silently, and automatically hide in tall grass.
So how do you guide Mui through the game? Of course she follows you, but she also commands you. She may look like a cat, but you can think of her Mui’s behavior as being closer to that of a dog: she can ask her to stay, follow you, You can direct her to a specific location. The stay and follow commands are both assigned to her B button on her Xbox controller. Tapping will make Mui stay in place, and holding her button will follow you.
Mui is much smaller than Lana, so there are places where Lana can crawl. Mui is also very agile and can jump over large gaps and heights with ease. When you aim Mui at a specific point, hold down the RT trigger to reveal her UI on screen telling you where in the game world you’re pointing. You can move freely with the analog stick and even smartly snap to specific points of interest. Once you have decided where Mui is going, just press the A button and Mui will dash there.
While solving certain puzzles, Lana and Mui may be temporarily separated. You may have to hold down the button to open the door or hatch. There are often these mini environmental puzzles where Lana and Mui are in different locations and use their abilities to advance to the next part of the game. When this happens, an animated icon dynamically pops up to indicate which direction Mui is in and what state it is in. For example, if she is sitting or moving towards you.
What else do dogs and cats do? Chew of course! There are times when Lana needs Mui to use her teeth to chew on ropes and other materials. Dynamically pops up a prompt to press the Y button if there is a contextual action that Mui can perform. Mui may chew ropes, push things over, and other similar behaviors. These examples are just a few of the scenarios you’ll see while traveling Novo with Lana and Mui. New abilities become available to both characters as the adventure progresses and their relationship deepens. Your odyssey will also explore the diversity of this wonderful planet, from the lush green hills you saw here today, to the deep blue expanses of the ocean, marshes, forgotten old shipwrecks, and finally golden sandy beaches.
