A month ago we released our little fishing game Dredge on PS5 and PS4 and were overwhelmed by the positive response. Thank you for enjoying fishing in The Marrows…and exploring the dangerous waters beyond.
Today we announced that we have more Eldritch experiences planned for Dredge throughout the year, including three free updates and a new paid adventure featuring the Ironhaven Corporation, an entity that some of the game’s inhabitants have mentioned passing by. I am happy that I can. Details are explained in depth below.
One of the most requested features by our users is in-game map enhancements. We are happy to introduce this in the first free update in May. The addition of map markers allows you to choose from a variety of colored icons representing dangers, shipwrecks, mysteries, and more, making navigation between locations more effective than ever before. Additionally, this update includes some fixes and balance changes.
The second update introduces a completely different way to experience Dredge with two new modes. The first is Passive Mode, for players who prefer a less intense experience. Monsters that normally attack fishing boats are no longer aggressive, allowing players to focus on fishing and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
The second mode in this update is another highly requested feature, Photo Mode. But rather than adding functionality with simple menu options, it takes a different approach. New in-game characters are added when Photo Mode is launched. This character helps players unlock camera features and share clues on where to find local marine life for photos. Brand new with this update. This mode “hooks” into his PlayStation’s screenshot sharing feature, so you can share your captures, whether they’re majestic whales or nightmarish abominations from the depths of the sea.
The third free update introduces boat customizations such as paint schemes and flags. As you explore the Dredge coastline and bayou, you’ll unlock new boat paint schemes and flags to make your fishing boat stand out. We will share more details about Updates 2 and 3 later in the year.
Finally, we will develop a fully optional paid DLC featuring the mysterious Ironhaven Corporation. They seek to establish an innovative excavation operation in the area to revitalize the town and population, but their ultimate goal is unknown. As you gather biomaterials to fuel, meet new characters, craft new equipment, and catch new fish, the truth behind their potentially nefarious activities may be revealed.
