Fallout 76 players are venturing into new territory. This September his Expeditions update takes players to a dangerous location outside the Appalachian wilderness: The Pit.
Built over the remains of pre-war Pittsburgh, the Pit is a rundown place. With bloodthirsty raiders and once-human Trogg beasts approaching, the local Union factions are surrounded on all sides. Gather your friends, pack the best gear, train yourself… go on an expedition.
ready to go
As Steve Massey, Lead Designer for Expeditions in Fallout 76, explains: “We have developed a new quest module system that allows you to easily randomize quest objectives or change themes to make each mission playthrough truly unique and overall It blends seamlessly into the mission story.”
Players can tackle missions solo or in groups of up to four, with friends, or using the new Expedition Public Teams feature included in the update. A player can earn a unique item his plan once a week when he completes an expedition. You can also collect stamps to claim certain items from the reward pool. Players can also earn repeatable rewards such as Legendary Items, Deeds, Treasury Notes, and even brand new ways to earn Legendary Modules.
return to pit
Of course, there’s more to Expeditions than just valuable loot. Expeditions will allow Fallout fans to visit The Pitt for the first time since the Add-On DLC for Fallout 3 in 2009. With Fallout 76 set before the events of Fallout 3, Expeditions not only offers exciting replayable missions, but also gives players the opportunity to truly explore Pittsburgh. See the city in a new light… and preview its coming darkness, in a fascinating era of Fallout lore.
“The team was passionate about allowing players to explore other parts of the Fallout universe beyond Appalachia during this unique time, just a few decades after World War I.” Massey continues. “The Pit was an obvious choice as the first city to visit, because in Fallout 3 it’s such a bleak and unforgiving landscape that you ask yourself, ‘How did things get so bad?'” The format also gives players the opportunity to take players to completely new places in the Fallout universe that no existing game has touched before. “
Alone or Team – Be Ready
Expeditions can be taken solo or in groups, but be careful. For the best experience of stepping into The Pitt, we recommend reaching level 50 or higher first.
“Like other high-level story-based quests in the game, expedition missions are tailored to be satisfying, but not overly punishing,” says Massey. “The player needs to be well equipped, but every enemy drops relevant ammo and his Stimpaks to help keep him moving on the field.” Want to play with people on a different level? Don’t worry: just like the rest of the game, the enemies on your expedition scale with your level. “A low-level player can accompany a high-level friend on a mission, and both experience the right level of difficulty,” he assures Massey.
New player enhancements
Speaking of new players, the Expedition update also includes other enhancements to the game, such as adjusted starting gear and other additions useful for fresh Vault Dwellers just setting foot in Appalachia.
“Whitespring Resort has been completely revamped with a player hub called Whitespring Refuge,” says Massey. “Players will take part in evacuation daily quests, experience an all-new random encounter system, and repair/buy/craft almost anything in the game in the lower areas of Whitespring Mall. Additionally, the update includes Caps It includes a number of frequently requested quality of life changes, such as the ability to fast travel directly inside frequently visited locations like Whitespring and Rusty Pick without consuming .
