BMW M2 Competition ’18
A hard-boiled FR that hides the power of the devil in a compact body.
The BMW 2 Series Coupe is popular as a high-performance rear-wheel drive compact. The BMW M2 Competition is an extreme machine with the 3L twin-turbo inline 6 ‘S55’ engine of the M3 and M4 in the same engine compartment. The first thing you’ll notice is the mesmerizing bodywork. The exterior, which rises from the fenders, embodies speed. At just 4,475mm in length, it’s about the same size as the E36 M3. Whether in the city or on winding back roads, it provides an overwhelming sense of control as if the driver’s own nerves were reaching every corner of his body. The S55 engine delivers a maximum power of 404 BHP with a maximum torque of 56.1 kgfm. In contrast to BMW’s long history of top-performing in-line 6-cylinder engines, this model has exceptional high-revving performance and explosive power as the boost increases.
Ford Sierra RS 500 Cosworth ’87
Cosworth Tuned masterpiece that swept the touring car race
The Sierra was a relatively standard family car with an aerodynamic hatchback body produced by Ford Europe from 1982. In 1985, however, car enthusiasts’ impression of the Sierra changed dramatically. That’s because the famous Cosworth has added the Sierra RS Cosworth, affectionately known to enthusiasts as ‘Cossy’, to its selection. The Sierra RS Cosworth had a 2-liter in-line 4-cylinder engine that he tuned to his 203 BHP with DOHC and a turbocharger. The chassis has been strengthened, and the exterior has been upgraded with fender extensions and a large rear spoiler. A year later, it was further boosted to 223 horsepower and a limited edition of 500 Sierra RS 500 Cosworth joined the line-up with a beefed-up engine for racing and improved aerodynamic detailing. And, of course, all of these improvements were developed for touring car racing. Between 1988 and 1990 Sierra won several series championship titles in the international Group A category in countries such as Germany, Great Britain, Australia, Japan and New Zealand.
Nissan Silvia K’s Aero (S14) ’96
The top grade of the S14 adds a rear spoiler and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
The S14 Silvia debuted in October 1993 as the successor to the highly successful S13 model, and with a new larger body Nissan hoped to continue its previous success. The S14 is 1,730 mm wide compared to the S13’s 1,690 mm, with a correspondingly wider tread. In addition, the total length is 4,500 mm, which is 30 mm longer, and the overall height is 1,295 mm, which is 5 mm higher, resulting in a larger body. The soft lines of the body design make the width of the car stand out the most. The K’s grade also comes standard with 16-inch wheels. The engine is a retuned S13 SR20 series. The highest grade K’s model is equipped with an intercooler turbocharger and develops 216BHP/28kgfm, 14BHP more than the previous generation, while the naturally aspirated Q’s and J’s models develop 157BHP/19.2kgfm. The basic structure of the suspension is also taken over from the S13, adopting a front strut and rear multi-link. The car was also provided with the “Super HICAS” electronic rear-wheel steering system. In 1996, Nissan launched a facelift model with a major design change. The soft image of the exterior is accentuated with grimacing headlights and a large realistic spoiler, giving it a sharper and more impressive appearance.
