PlayStation Productions is going all out when it comes to film projects, building out even more of its upcoming star-studded cast gran turismo movieAccording to The Hollywood Reporter, Orlando Bloom has been cast for the role. Following the success of the movie Uncharted starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, Sony Pictures Entertainment is preparing numerous movies and film projects based on his PlayStation IP. After originally scrapping him around 2015, Gran Turismo has been given another shot, under the watchful eye of game creator Kazunori Yamauchi.
Orlando Bloom co-stars with David Harbor in Gran Turismo movie
Orlando Bloom’s casting news came a day after it was revealed that Stranger Things star David Harbor would play the role of the race’s mentor. I play a retired driver. Gran Turismo player and protagonist teenager who eventually became a real race car driver. The film is based on a true story, but with a few “teens” that fit the bill, we still don’t know whose story gets the Hollywood treatment.
Regarding the role played by Bloom, hollywood reporter, he “plays a hungry marketer who sells the sport of motor racing…and you might believe that art too.” The Gran Turismo movie starts shooting in Europe next week. and is currently set to hit theaters on August 11, 2023. It will be directed by Neill Blomkamp of District 9 and co-produced by Asad Kizilbash of PlayStation Productions. Yamauchi will serve as one of the executive producers.
