Renowned insider Tom Henderson “strongly” believes GTA 6 will be officially announced in 2023 by Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive. However, his bet is 2025, given that he released two years after both GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 were announced. This means he believes Microsoft’s predictions for the 2024 GTA 6 release date are a bit optimistic.
2025 GTA 6 release date makes more sense, Henderson suggests
as part of Henderson’s Game Prediction As for 2023, he backs previous reports that date back to 2021, with Grand Theft Auto 6 set to release in 2024 or 2025 “despite being criticized by the GTA community.”
…we said that GTA 6 will be released sometime between 2024 and 2025, which is a solid date and we still strongly believe it’s happening. A 2023 announcement would fit perfectly with those years, especially if you’re familiar with how Rockstar Games and Take-Two have generally handled game announcements and releases in the past.
He continues: “Is a 2024 release announcement possible? Sure. But Rockstar’s track record suggests the game will be delayed for another year anyway.”
By comparison, Microsoft’s prediction that “the highly anticipated GTA 6 is set to release in 2024” was made in a claim to the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority in favor of a deal with Activision Blizzard.
In early November, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick said in an earnings call with investors that GTA 6 was not affected by the Rockstar Games hack. He also said he prefers delays to flops, which is part of the reason the game’s release date was not revealed in 2022.
