Halo Infinite Season 3: Echoes Within, available tomorrow, many In fact, it’s the biggest multiplayer update the game has ever received. It brings maps, modes, new weapons and equipment items, new narrative content to chew on, and more. With that in mind, who better to talk about what Echoes Within brings to fans than Sean Baron, 343 Industries’ Live Head of Performance?
In an hour-long interview, I asked Sean to detail all of Season 3’s additions to the game, explaining what they offered, how they were designed, and even how they were designed. Some of these changes represent future plans Halo Infinitefuture of live services.
Well, that’s enough. Sean Baron explains Echoes Within.
Sean Barron: “Wow! – 3 maps. We’re releasing 2 Arena maps, Chasm and Cliffhanger, and 1 Big Team Battle map, Oasis.”
cliffhanger: “Cliffhanger is an arena map. Asymmetric with a cross map man cannon. It’s awesome Halo: Reach atmosphere. Very similar to the moment you land on the first mission “Noble Actual”. It has some ambience of circular modular buildings built into the side of a hill. The map has a mix of altitude and line of sight, as well as interior spaces that make melee combat really challenging. You can find any type of combat space you’re looking for, and there’s a wide variety of them all. ”
Chasm: “Chasm is a unique map, much smaller than any other current map, which makes combat more frenetic. It leans heavily towards the Forerunner art style, infinite‘s first campaign mission, “The Foundation”. In that mission, the pilot drops you into the Zeta Halo underworld, which has begun to collapse. There are broken pillars, gaps to jump over, and many ways to move around the environment. In Chasm, this creates a lot of really fun moments for skillful players. For players who can move around very quickly, jump, and time those jumps very well (good at parkour), this is an environment with a lot of risk and reward. It also has narrow spaces with interesting verticality. This is a great arena for finding battles quickly. I think Free-For-All and Fiesta will do just fine. ”
oasis: “Oasis is my favorite map. I don’t know if I need a favorite. I don’t like it as a kid, so I can. BTB’s map. It’s asymmetrical. Excellent for vehicle combat. There are lanes, but those lanes don’t put you at a huge disadvantage as a foot player, and vehicle combat on this map is pretty compelling, but that doesn’t come at the expense of more melee combat. The map has great indoor spaces, some of which are quite large, but the player has control if they want to avoid dealing with vehicles outdoors, and I like the design direction of this map. feels like a giant version of the standoff from halo 3It’s not set in the same place, but something feels like it.And it also, for me, brings back the “tip of the spear” mission Halo: Reach”
“this is Halo InfiniteGun game mode version. In the arena variant, the starting weapon is his SPNKR and the ending weapon is an oddball (skull). These are he two truly iconic Halo bookend weapons. In the arena, the team with 11 total levels of weapon proficiency and the oddball kill wins. ”
“Another wrinkle in Halo that seems to add a layer of player diversity and strategy is that in Escalation Slayer mode, when you change weapons, you get different secondary weapons in each level and get different pieces. Every time on the equipment. It has a fiesta mode feel to it.It’s like, ‘Okay, I know I want to get this combo.I love that combo.Okay, what next? Do you have it?” In that sense, it’s a lot of fun. This adds a lot of possible combinations. It has a lot of options and a lot of direction, so I’m really excited to see it released and even more excited to see what players do with it. ”
“What is UNSC’s Future Smokescreen? It’s a shroud screen. It doesn’t protect anyone inside the screen other than it obfuscates what you’re inside and what’s behind it. If you drop the screen, you can throw grenades, shoot them, and if I was in a Scorpion tank, I could have shot them and killed the people inside.
“When the team was building Shroud Screens, they wanted to create something like a utility equipment item, something that has multiple uses. Or create a moment of combat. Now it’s Combat Dance. You can use it to hide your movements and set up different routes of attack and different strategies. The other is how the player does this I’m very curious if there are any, but it means you can lure players into combat encounters, for example, they don’t necessarily know you’re waiting with a bulldog or a sword, but shrouded screens Dropping it creates a moment of tension for the attacker: you’re using it in a different way than you currently have equipment and combat utility items in your sandbox, and that’s the real It’s the goal.”
“Bandit’s goal is to add a new utility weapon that can be spawned and is effective in most combat situations. Precision semi-autokinetic weapon. It really rewards skilled players who can keep hitting their goals. halo 5 Magnum in terms of timing and DPS. ”
“When you play with it, it has a wider effective range than an assault rifle, but a little less range than a battle rifle. You get interesting combat dynamics between players with effective range and scope and players with Bandits.”
“The story continues from The Lone Wolves. We continue to follow Spartan Dinh, one of the lone Spartans. Got the exiled AI.The story is still going on…but there are a lot of secrets…I’m not going to spoil those secrets. The story is going to take place with some gameplay additions and It ties in – Din gives bandits to Spartans, elements of the Oasis map are shown, and some UI reflects the story, but it’s not a “must read” to enjoy the game.
“The Battle Pass offers some instant unlocks. Purchasing the Echoes Within Premium Pass unlocks the Red Steel Splinter Armor Coating instantly. all Cores available in addition to earning 1,000 cR during the course of the pass. I think the 100 level battle pass will resonate with core players. Passes also have no expiration date, so players who want to take their time and work through every level can do so at their own pace. We’re confident that with match XP properly tuned and changes made to the challenge system based on player feedback, players will find themselves progressing at the right pace.
There are also two new free Armor Cores. Fan-favorite and throwback, there’s his ONI-ish looking Spartan core “Mirage”. This is especially attractive for core players. And then there’s the more bonkers core “Chimera”. , which is tied to the Season 3 Fracture event.
“That’s a big issue for me. As we move forward with the service, we need to offer multiple options for different types of players. Some people don’t like Spartan cat ears. We invest in hardcore, military, and Spartan aesthetics.” Some people want to go on, some people like me love spartan cat ears, that’s great, we have both, what’s attractive to people For me, service is a relationship, and you have to explore what that relationship means: What do players want? We don’t want that, we’re not going to give you more, so there’s going to be some really fun variety that we think will take us in a direction that we haven’t done before in terms of uniqueness.”
I’m very confident in how far we’ve come with Season 3. We are also confident that we can continue to improve that consistency and avoid the past long season altogether.
“In the season 3 preview, this onset of seasonality Halo InfiniteHowever, “seasonality” is limited. For me, seasonality is about consistency, and everything has to be consistent. I’m very confident in how far we’ve come with Season 3. We are also confident that we can continue to improve that consistency and avoid the past long season altogether. We will try to be more consistent. We continue to evolve the game through close partnerships with our players. We are focused on shipping Season 3 and, as the Chief said, “[r]Ready to go back to work. ”
