343 Industries has revealed details about the upcoming Halo Infinite Winter Update, which will be released on November 8th. This time around, it introduces a number of weapon balance fixes that will be introduced in sandbox mode. shows a small nerf – here are the changes:
As Community Manager Unishek explains: blog post That 343, as players got a little more familiar with the gameplay, started exploring weapon balance in the Halo Infinite sandbox. Looking at both player feedback and hard data on how weapons are used in the game, Halo Infinite’s six weapons have been tweaked for better or worse.
Both the Plasma Pistol and Disruptor have been upgraded, the 343 Hope for increased use and effectiveness in games, and both the Pulse Carbine and VK78 Commando have been tweaked for increased effectiveness at short range. Both the BR75 and Frag Grenade are nerfed in this update, but given a minor downgrade for competitiveness.You can read the full dev notes on the balance changes and the rationale behind them 343 blogs.
Here is the full list of balance changes:
plasma pistol
- Base shot damage increased from 20 to 28
- Charged shot angular velocity increased from 20 to 35 degrees per second
- Increased stationary charged shot induced angular velocity from 50 to 70 degrees per second
pulse carbine
- Increased static induced angular velocity from 25 to 35 degrees per second
- Angular velocity decreased from 50 to 30 degrees per second
- Increased primary percentage covered from 0.35 to 1
- Increased guided projectile error radius from 0.2 degrees to 0.22 degrees
VK78 Commando
- Headshot preferred angle increased from 0 degrees to 0.1 degrees
- Increased bullet magnetic angle from 1.25 degrees to 1.3 degrees
- Increased aim assist angle from 5 degrees to 6.25 degrees
- Reduced the maximum value of the minimum error angle from 0.8 degrees to 0.6 degrees
BR75
- Headshot preferred angle decreased from 0.25 degrees to 0.2 degrees
- Bullet magnetic angle decreased from 2.4 degrees to 2.2 degrees
- Bullet magnetic range reduced from 20wus to 18wus
- Bullet magnetic decay range reduced from 12wus to 10wus
frag grenade
- Increase detonation timer by 0.2s
Disruptor
- Increased magazine ammo from 10 to 12
The update also added movement updates that disable “snap sliding”, stating that physics-based exploits are too likely to “break the flow of the game.” A similar move known as curb slide remains in the game, and 343 judged its use to be “pleasant to watch and not too disruptive to the flow of gameplay.”
Also, 343 blog posts contain a number of sandbox changes and bug fixes that will be removed in an upcoming update, but not in time for the winter update. Fixing the desync issue is high on the list of 343, listing some high-priority bugs that should be tackled first. 343 will also look into quality of life improvements for players who use mouse and keyboard, as well as future balancing updates for weapons and features that feel overwhelming.
The upcoming Winter Update will also introduce Match XP, Campaign Co-op, Forge Beta and more.
