There’s a lot of “Moushly” fan art out there, so I can confidently say that there must be more than the amount of “normal” RE4 remake Ashley art by now.I have devour cheese (opens in new tab)Mooshree reenactment of the meme (opens in new tab), Pixel Mawshley (opens in new tab), and much more below. Yes, a truly staggering amount of art that cannot be embedded or linked to in the body of this article under any circumstances. The boundaries of human taste are truly limitless.
I’m neither a social scientist nor a Fursona owner, so it might be beyond my limits to theorize about this. I think it contained a design that was replicable, instantly recognizable, and (to be honest) quite adorable. The mental A to B of “change” is a bit hard to grasp, but I think the popularity of Maushley’s character is intuitively straightforward.
Plus, just like RE4’s Ghibli-esque trailer, (opens in new tab)there’s something fascinating about the gap between the game’s actual subject (a sinister cultist who uses parasites to turn humans into bioweapons) and the meme (Ashley is a cute mouse craving cheese) .
But like I said, even Capcom has come to comment on the trend, albeit quite obliquely. Resident Evil official Twitter account posted (opens in new tab) Mouse emoji and cheese emoji naturally put thousands into overdrive, and many confirmed it Moushly is now “canon” (opens in new tab)What does it mean that another rodent version of a video game character is Kanon? No clue, but whatever that means, it’s true.
