It’s been an eventful time for the unofficial ambassador of PC gaming. In October, Henry Cavill announced that he was returning to play Superman, and in November, it was announced that he would be stepping away from his role as Geralt in The Witcher. It then turns out he wasn’t meant to play Superman after all, and the upcoming film is a reboot that focuses on a younger version of the character.
All of which put Cavill in a tight spot. Do you have time to finish painting the army of the Adeptus Custodes? Well, maybe not.according to hollywood reporter (opens in new tab)Cavill may have found another dream role in a series based on Warhammer 40,000.
This should make Rahul Kohli happy. Actor and gamer who was active in “iZombie” and “Supergirl”. murmured (opens in new tab) Shortly before the news broke, he said, “Hey Henry, motherfucker, let’s make a Warhammer movie/limited series.”
The Hollywood Reporter said Cavill “is responsible for star and executive producing” and also said the series was “set up” by Amazon. “Amazon is in final negotiations over the rights to a game produced by Games Workshop, after months of negotiations and fending off rival companies seeking rights.”
Of course, whatever deal is being discussed could fall through, and many announcements about TV shows with big names never come to fruition. An adaptation was announced, with Frank Spotnitz’s Big Light Productions at the wheel. It’s been a few years since we heard anything about it, but assuming it’s still in the works, it would be a fitting role to cast Cavill.
