After being dumped on HBO Max, the streaming service’s TV series Westworld and other shows are set to hit Roku Channel and Tubi this spring.
Roku and Warner Bros. Discovery announced Shows like Westworld, The Bachelor, Cake Boss, Say Yes to the Dress and F-Boy Island are coming to Roku this spring in what has been dubbed a “breakthrough” deal Tuesday.
The deal covers these shows and many others, as well as movies. Roku said “hundreds” of TV shows and movies from WB Discovery’s library will be coming to the Roku Channel, though the full list hasn’t been made public yet.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal is part of a growing trend of content appearing on free ad-supported TV (FAST) sources. Roku is one of several partners with whom WB Discovery sells its content in ad-supported deals. The other is Tubi, Westworld, according to variety.
Tubi’s WB Discovery content will start appearing on February 1st, but Roku hasn’t announced when its own slate will start streaming. Check out GameSpot for more info.
When WB Discovery announced that it would be removing Westworld and other shows from HBO Max, the company clarified that the shows would eventually appear on other FAST channels. Still, losing a beloved show like Westworld and having to sign up for another service to keep watching it is far from an ideal scenario.
As for Westworld’s planned fifth season, the star is still being paid, but it’s not making progress.
