Hogwarts Legacy Merlin Trials Small spell-based challenges scattered throughout the game’s magical open world. Starting to explore, he finds it difficult to perform the three steps without stumbling over another Merlin Trial. That said, these puzzles are important because they give you extra gear inventory slots, allowing you to carry more stuff to sell or wear.
Unlocks the first Merlin Trial during the Trials of Merlin quest immediately after meeting Natty near Lower Hogsfield. Nora Treadwell explains the basic concept of putting the mallow suite on the altar and solving the challenges that follow. However, there are many different types of Merlin Trials around the world, each requiring a specific spell to resolve. Here’s how to complete every Merlin Trial type I’ve found and how to get enough of his Mallowsweet to start them.
How to solve all of Merlin’s trials
While traveling through the world of Hogwarts Legacy, I came across 8 different Merlin Trial types with seemingly repeated variations throughout the map. Note that these trials require specific spells and cannot be completed if not already mastered.
Here are the resolutions for each Marlin trial type:
- light torch: Use Incendio or Confringo to light the torches around the Trials. Then it will start sinking into the ground. Everything must be lit before that happens. With that in mind, find their position first and light the tallest ones first too.
- Smash Orb: A simple one where you have to destroy an orb on a pillar using Accio. Each of these usually has a lot of orbs to grind.
- Standing stones: This is a good old wizard parkour obstacle course. Climb to one end of the nearby standing stone and reach the other end by running or jumping without touching the ground.
- Symbol Cube: A little tricky to complete, this requires using Flipendo on the cube with symbols to align each side with the pedestal the cube is resting on. These cubes usually have arrows on some faces to help guide the alignment direction.
- Collect Moths: This challenge features a hollow cube with a crystal inside. Use Lumos to attract moths floating nearby, taking turns returning each cube to her crystal to light it up.
- Explode stone: One of the simplest. Use Confringo to blast the cracked greenish rock around the trial area. Repulso could work in theory, but Confringo is probably easier in scope.
- Restore the statue: When you start this trial, many statues will collapse around you. Use Reparo to fix them and complete the challenge.
- Spellball: Basically Magic Football: Use yellow and purple movement spells to get the ball into a nearby bowl-shaped goal on the ground. Of course, you can also use Wingardium Leviosa to cheat and bring it there manually.
If you’re doing this for gear slots, claim them in challenges when you’ve completed enough Merlin Trials.
How do I get the Mallow Suite?
You can buy the Mallow Suite from Magic Neeps It runs out quickly in Hogsmeade, so I recommend buying seeds instead and growing them in a greenhouse planter at first. request room Once unlocked, you can start your own mallow farm with a plant table that is essentially never depleted. You get 5 for every mallow plant you harvest from the plant table in the quest room.
