House of the Dragons I know I’m not alone when I say that season 1 is over and I’m going to have a hard time waiting for season 2. The first season was a lot of build-up and character development.
The showrunners spent virtually the entire season wise, setting the stage for Dance of Dragons. They took pains to show Westeros at peace under the rule of the good King Viserys I (Paddy Considine). And with Team Green and Team Black teetering on the brink of Civil War, they set into motion all the various palace plots that lead us to this moment.
When Queen Aricent (Olivia Cooke) discovered her husband’s death last week, she immediately brought the matter up to the Small Council and breathlessly sent her son Aegon (Tom Glyn-Carney) after him. inherit. The Greens moved swiftly to perform her coronation in the Dragon Pit in front of the public, Princess Her Reynis (Eve Her Best) escaped aboard Maryse the Dragon and made her way to Dragonstone. In this week’s finale, she reveals her treason to Ray Neela (Emma Darcy) and her husband Damon (Matt Smith).
The news of her father’s death and Hightower’s betrayal was such a shock that Reynilla went into premature labor and later gave birth to a stillborn monster. It’s yet another powerful scene of childbirth lost in the season, the bloodiest moment when the act of childbirth often goes terribly wrong.Laenira survived, unlike her mother, but the tragedy to come. is just the beginning of a long parade of
Demons act quickly. He sends Crow to his side, ordering him to patrol the island in search of enemy ships and demonstrate his strength. The ship arrives. His one of these bears, Eric Cargyle (Elliott Tittensor), is a Kingsguard knight who couldn’t bear the idea of Aegon being king. (His twin Arik, played by Luke Tittenser, remains in Aegon’s camp.
Eryk comes with King Viserys’ crown to give to Rhaenrya and pledges the sword to her cause.
The other ship brings the King’s Hand, Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans), who was the Hand to King Jahaeris and King Viserys before his grandson Aegon II ascended the Iron Throne. It’s a tense meeting that recalls a similar conflict many years ago, when Otto and Renlya appear on the same side and demand the return of the dragon egg the demon stole. She was the wife of the Daemon and nemesis of the Hightowers when she descended upon Syrax, the dragon of
Otto lists Aegon’s terms, and they are certainly generous enough. Rhenyra holds the Dragonstone. Luceris (Elliott Griholt) remains Driftmark’s successor. The younger sons of Rhaenyra, through Daemon, Aegon and Viserys, become the king’s squire and cupbearer. All Rhaenyra and her family have to do is bend her knees.
“I want my children to be fed by dragons,” Damon says, adding colorful words about Aegon. But Rhaenyra still doesn’t know what to do. After removing the pin from Otto’s hand and throwing it into the sea, she told him that King’s Landing would give the answer tomorrow.
Damon is then surprised to consider surrendering. She suggests he just wants war, but he tells her it’s her duty as her queen to put down the rebellion. At this point, she remembers Aegon’s dream, A Song of Ice and Fire, which Viserys told her years ago. Damon lost his patience, cooled down, grabbed his wife/niece by the throat, and said, “We didn’t become kings because of our dreams. We became kings because of the dragons.” .”
“He didn’t tell you,” she says, realizing her father didn’t take Damon seriously as heir. A demon rushes out of the room. this is . . . weird and cramped moments, like almost every scene the demon occupies.
Lord Corliss Velarion (Steve Toussaint) arrives at Dragonstone after surviving serious injuries sustained in Stepstone. He learns of his brother’s death and tells Reinis that he should not declare to either side and return to Driftmark to live out his days in peace. However, Reynis reminds him that his grandson’s fate depends on Raenira becoming queen. . Besides, Rhaenyra showed impressive inhibition. Corliss then declared that House would serve Driftmark and his fleet for Raenira’s purposes. He has also hijacked the stone steps and is in charge of trade in the Narrow Sea. Raenys says he patrols Gullett with Dragonback, where Blackwater Bay and the Narrow Sea meet.
However, the need to secure allies is still a problem, and Jacaerys (Harry Collett) suggests sending him and Luke to treat him in the main houses in areas most likely to be swayed by black flags. Rhaenyra agrees and sends Jace north to Vale and then to Winterfell to seek treatment from Lady Arynn and Lord Stark. She sends her younger son on a closer and easier flight to Storms Her End and Lord Baratheon. That’s a tragic mistake.
When Luke arrived in Stormlands, he arrived in the middle of a storm befitting the place. Worse than the storm is the presence of Aymond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell). He offered Lord Boros Baratheon (Roger Evans) a sweet deal. The proud but illiterate lord is angry that Rhaenyra does not send his own terms and offers, only a reminder of his father’s oath. He tells Luke to go. Far from the “warm welcome” predicted by Rhaenyra, the Lord of the Stormlands is utterly hostile.
However, when Aymond asked “Lord Strong” to cut off his eyes as repayment for what he had lost, the Boros quickly became displeased and told them there would be no blood spilled in his halls. . He orders his men to bring Luke back to the dragon.
Aimond also heads for his dragon, the giant bugger. As Luke rushes back towards Dragonstone, Vhagar suddenly appears above a much smaller dragon high in the clouds.
Luke tries to escape when Aymond laughs over him. He, too, is about to sprint between narrow cliff walls where the much larger Vhagar can’t keep up. However, it is at this moment that Luke loses control of the dragon. Like Luke, the dragon Arax has never been to war. Provoked by a larger dragon, young Arax continues to attack, sending a violent gust of wind into Vhagar’s face.
Now it’s Aymond’s turn to lose control. Vhagar launches an attack and Aemond pleads with the beast to follow him. But Vhagar is old and can’t stand her rider. Veggar gives chase as Luke and Alux make their way past the clouds and into the blue sky. Suddenly, a giant dragon bursts through the clouds, opening its jaws wide and then snapping shut, slicing Arrax to pieces. The severed dragon and her rider fall from the sky and plummet to their deaths below.
Returning to Dragonstone, we see Raenira in court with her lords, knights, and soldiers. Daemon enters and goes to her. They walk hand in hand and turn their backs. He whispers something to her and we see her stop. Even if she doesn’t see her face, we know what she’s learned now. You can see her heart breaking even before she turns her around.
When she turns around, she sees fire and blood in her eyes.
War is coming.
verdict
It’s really interesting how they turned Amond and Luke’s case from the book. Arrax tries to escape, but the storm is strong and things don’t go well. He is soon overwhelmed by a large dragon, Vhagar, and both dragon and rider are slaughtered in cold blood. After Aymond murders his nephew, he becomes Aymond Kinslayer, and war (and revenge) ensues.
Here, Emond never intended to kill Luceris. Both princes lost control of the dragon and Vhagar acted alone and slaughtered the younger and smaller dragon against Aemond’s wishes. It’s a fascinating change that not only makes Aemond less sinister, but also less stupid, making him more human.
It also shows how powerful and unwieldy these beasts really are, especially when the blood is in the air. Both Lucerys and Aemond fail to control the dragons, and tragedy ensues. I like this change as much as I like most changes from the book. They all (except perhaps Reinis’ last scene from last week) help make these characters more relatable and empathetic. will be We’ll see how far these changes go in upcoming seasons.
This was an incredibly powerful season finale. House of the Dragon. I must say, this show exceeded all my expectations. I basically watched every episode twice except this one.The whole season came out and I’m going to watch it again. The show’s creators Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik (the latter of whom has now left the show has created a truly unique fantasy show. It has never been done before. This is serious character drama.Darker, slower, more serious, more mature than game of thrones.
on the other hand game of thrones it was a grand fantasy dragon house is a historical novel featuring dragons. But that’s not all. The script, the acting, and the production as a whole feel richer, more personal, and more intimate than its predecessor. not fun. There aren’t many characters to root for. No Tyrions, no Aryas, no Jon Snows. But the complex characters we have are more alive, more weathered, and feel more real. increase.
I’m not going to spend too much time comparing the two shows, but it’s hard not to be here at the end of season one. game of thrones, War was also raging, with many different sides vying for control of the Seven Kingdoms or seeking revenge. I have. I hope season 2 doesn’t forget that the show’s strengths are primarily in its careful and detailed approach to character development, and not the combat or dragons, which are most certainly the funniest things to do.
