Hi FARTs (Furniture Placement Transfer Technician!) I’m Dave Lockman, Lead Designer. moving house 2, is now being carefully packed in bubble wrap and boxed for migration to the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One later this year. It may seem obvious, but we believe games should be fun for everyone, regardless of age, physical ability, or skill. This is the philosophy that SMG Studio always keeps in mind when making new games. moving house 2 There is no difference.
like the first moving, the new game is built from the ground up with a haul truck full of accessibility options and design decisions to be enjoyed by players of all ages and abilities. For designers, the earlier accessibility is considered, the more informed the design and presentation of the game. In other words, planning ahead can help you avoid the pitfalls of getting stuck in a tight spot from which you can’t easily get out. For players, this also means that accessibility feels like a natural part of the gaming experience, not an afterthought.
We focused on three core elements: moving house 2 It repeats the forward-looking work done in the first game on accessibility, including assisted modes, “quality of life” accessibility, and art and design.
assist mode
At first movingintroduced Assist Modes, a set of settings that affect the player experience, and carried all of this into the sequel as well. oh what are these settings?
If you haven’t played the first game yet (you should) many It’s a lot of fun!) Some settings allow the player to extend the time limit to give some space. This is great if you’re playing with young gamers who just want to enjoy the levels. They could decide to allow the object to disappear upon delivery, completely removing the extra challenge of getting the object into the removal truck from the game. Heavy objects designed to be moved by two or more players can be lightened. Also, in the Moving In game mode, players can add her Snap+ option to place a cranky toaster. just So. Players can also skip failed levels. After all, why would a particularly difficult level prevent you from enjoying the levels that follow?
The setting can be enabled or disabled at any time, so you don’t have to start the campaign from scratch if you want to make objects disappear on delivery or spend more time completing some of the game’s harder levels.
“Quality of Life” Accessibility
Now, I hear your questions. “Dave, what is ‘quality of life’ accessibility?” function. So, for example, we introduced fully remappable game controllers and keyboards. moving house 2 To increase compatibility with various accessible peripherals and controllers available on the market.
You can also toggle hold controls for grabs and throws for players who find it difficult to hold down a button or trigger for too long. So if you press the button once he FART grabs a box, fridge, sofa or whatever, and if you press the button again he releases it.
Other quality of life settings include the ability to switch all text to dyslexia-friendly fonts, scale the user interface, turn subtitles on/off, and manage the level of screen shake.
art design
Art and design decisions have been stacked by the development team, along with assisted modes and quality of life accessibility options. moving house 2 Accessible and fun for everyone. For example, one of these decisions was to clearly label major features and rooms with their visual shape rather than relying solely on color. This means that people with color blindness can make similarly informed decisions when playing through the more cryptic levels in the game. The label is pretty cool too!
Many levels in Moving Out are dynamic. There are moving parts and mechanisms, rotating and swinging conveyor belts and devices that, unfortunately, can make some people feel a little nauseated or nauseated. solution? We’ve reduced the movement of these objects so they feel more dynamic but don’t make the player feel sick (no one needs that when you’re trying to set a time for a gold medal!).
Communicating how a level works without the need for on-screen text or instructions is another challenge we’ve been trying to overcome.instead, as in the first movingat the start of each level, cleverly visually explains how to solve things in an intuitive way.
These are just a few of the thousands of decisions we’ve made organically and through extensive player testing over the two years we’ve been working on it. moving house 2. We’re really proud of this game and can’t wait to give you an update as it nears launch.
moving house 2 is coming soon to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
