Colleagues are unhappy, but what about you personally? I enjoy playing Diablo 4. My Necromancer (Wiccan’s Kate like his Moth) walks into the room and knocks everyone in the room down. After that, I scavenge the corpses for treasure. This is alive, folks. Having a good time.
But hey, there’s one thing. All of these rooms are pretty similar and, well, quite far apart. Blizzard has been touting a switch to a more MMO-style open world during Diablo 4’s long development, but he’s having trouble seeing the benefits of it now that development has actually begun. I’m here.
I don’t remember any of the people I’ve met, the landscape isn’t exactly a visual feast, the presence of other players kneecaps the feeling of old-school Diablo’s desolate, lonely dread, and With my eyes closed I was able to navigate many basements and dungeons around the world. It feels like a thin layer of content spread over an incredibly large surface area, removing the feeling that, after all, all you’re actually achieving is being able to lust after the sight of your own glossy makeup. not. Purchased by another player.
remember that time
Partly because of Diablo 1. After playing the first beta of Diablo 4 and unexpectedly finding myself enjoying it, I went back and played the original game to learn more about the series’ roots. Since then it has been a corner of my heart. Every character in Tristram, every biome in its idiosyncratic dungeons, encounters with bosses and butchers, King Leoric, and their hilarious friends, all stuck in my mind.
But while Diablo 1 felt focused and interesting, Diablo 4 feels bland and expansive. I do the same thing I always do on my Diablo, but it’s been done for hundreds of miles and dozens of hours. It’s Homeopathy Diablo: What you really enjoy is infinitely watered down by the sheer volume of everything that surrounds it.
These aren’t bitter nostalgic person rants (at least not bitter nostalgic about Diablo). I played Diablo 1 for the first time literally months ago. Plus, it might sound harsher than I intended. As I said earlier, I enjoy Diablo 4. Turning enemies into dirt on meat and valuables lights up all the appropriate animal areas of my brain. But I don’t know that there is an open world and a really large number of animals. – very similar thing it has nothing to do with it. Instead, the whole thing becomes a little less special and a little less memorable.
For example, consider a character. Yes, no one plays Diablo because of the story, but there’s a reason Blizzard keeps bringing back Deckard Kane. He was likeable, funny and we developed a rapport with the guy. And he was one of his less than ten friendly characters in D1. Diablo 4 has about 50,000 unfortunate NPCs with varying accents (numbers are inaccurate), but the only one I really remember is the guy who voiced “”.I serve the USSR“A man from Chernobyl. I believe he’s called Lorax.”
Of all the people I’ve met, and I’ve met many people, none are as memorable to me as D1’s Adria and Wirt. Little chirps like “” don’t ring in my ears.feel the soul searching for answers“Of course, it’s not inherently a question of open-world design. Many games have sprawling settings filled with great multi-layered characters, but it’s those qualities that Blizzard focuses on. No, Diablo 4 characters are an empty vector for plot and side” – more quests, more features than characters This is true of all Diablo I’ve played to some extent, but with such a large amount of generic NPCs A closer and more focused world that doesn’t require a chance to shine a little brighter and stay in your heart longer.
keep up appearance
So it feels like all Diablo 4’s open world accomplishes is being more Diablo, which isn’t necessarily better than Diablo. But it does an admirable job of providing a large, wide open space for other players to roam, losing its limited edition emotes and an expensive glow.
I think this is the really uncomfortable part for me. There’s no doubt that Blizzard’s devs really wanted to try something new with Diablo 4’s structure, but that it certainly works very well as a big blank billboard for many microtransactions to parade through. I can’t help but notice.
I’m not a Diablo expert. I’ve played his 3 a little bit and I could have won the second game, but I played it when I was 8. My mind may play tricks on me, but my memory is one of desolation and loneliness. You face the hordes of evil. Anyway, that’s definitely my feeling about the first game, and it was back in March when I wrote it down.
But Diablo 4 is a party, all my buddies are invited, and by god they’re dressed up. It’s lost something in the open-world mass flow, and I’m afraid it lost it because it made commercial sense. Gone is the tight experience of Diablo 4’s predecessors (or at least 1 and 2), a gray waste of endless content that me and my friends, or whoever happened to be a part of the world’s affairs, could grapple with forever was exchanged. As we use each other’s cool makeup, we slowly tell ourselves yes, I do. should do it buy one of them.
