If you’re someone who uses RGB-decorated PC peripherals, you probably hate the companion app. Roccat Swarm, Corsair iCue, Razer Synapse… they all work, but the problem is that each has its own updates, his own UI, its own quirks, and they’re all annoying. For example, if you have a Corsair mouse and a Roccat keyboard and want to sync them, it’s even worse. Good news. It looks like Microsoft may soon make these concerns unnecessary, thanks to new features in Windows 11.
During the same Build conference that brought us the following news Cortana’s imminent death and the Official support for RAR files, Microsoft has announced a new dynamic lighting menu that fits inside the personalization menu. The dynamic lighting feature will allow users to “easily set up and customize their devices with RGB lighting directly from Windows Settings.” According to Microsoft.
This feature has been rumored for years and the screenshot is leaked Back in February. Based on these screenshots, the Dynamic Lighting menu allows you to adjust at least the “lighting effect”, the speed of that effect, brightness and color. You can also automatically match RGB to Windows accent colors. In the screenshot taken with windows centralthere is a menu of themes, as well as a list of RGB-equipped peripherals that can be turned on or off.
It is unclear how granular these options are. I can imagine that some of the more tricky lighting effects and themes may still be the realm of third-party apps. Still, for the type of user who just wants things to match and doesn’t want bloatware running all the time, this could be a godsend.
Microsoft wrote that the feature will be rolling out to Windows Insiders this month, stating that the Insider period is designed to allow “both developers and hardware partners” to experiment with the tool. In the meantime, there is also an app that works as an all-in-one RGB controller for him. ArtemisIf you don’t want to wait, you can try it now.
