Jetpack Joyride 2 is the first mobile game I’ve loved in a long time.
I was obsessed with keeping track of the best iOS games (titles like the original) in the early days of the iPhone. angry birds, hook champWhen outrageous fishing — but as the majority of mobile games have moved on, money worm I pretty much stopped playing them because they were the free-to-play model. I already have enough pastimes to juggle. Managing yet another free game is irresistible.
But to my surprise I kept finding myself open Jetpack Joyride 2 When it took a few minutes to burn. It also happened during my video game playing time. For days, I couldn’t stop collecting coins, dodging missiles, upgrading my gear, and advancing as far as I could through each level.
Jetpack Joyride 2 is An Apple Arcade exclusive sequel Jetpack Joyride, one of my all-time favorite mobile games. (You may not be surprised that I love it.) Jetpack Joyride 2 Almost the same as the first one. Characters equipped with jetpacks automatically dash through hallways as they jet up and down to collect collectibles and dodge obstacles. Complete missions and collect currency to upgrade your gear and purchase new items and in-game gear.
But the sequel mixes things up in some key ways. Jetpack Joyride 2 It adds enemies that you have to fight as you dodge obstacles like missiles and power lines, but the new game also gives you guns and special weapons to take down the bad guys. The original was an infinite runner, where the main goal was to survive as long as possible and reach as far as possible. Jetpack Joyride 2which tries to get a certain distance on each individual level.
Switching to levels is what really got me hooked. Levels usually only take a few minutes to complete. At the end of each level, try a bonus challenge to earn extra coins or fight some kind of boss. (I have Rockmanwarning alert like In front of the boss who always makes me smile.) This structure made it easy for me to try out the levels when I had a little time. Many times I told myself to play just one more level, but in reality he was able to make it to the third level.
That drive to keep moving forward is fueled by the game’s many upgrades that you can continue to invest in. many Your health, firepower, vehicles, power-ups and more. You can also upgrade “factories” that passively farm some of the in-game currency. There are quite a few things to improve on, but for the most part we were able to improve at least a few things after each run. This made me feel like I was always moving forward.
Jetpack Joyride 2 Economy also feels designed to scale naturally as you progress. This is unlike many other mobile games. These games can be weighted in ways that make you want to spend real money, so you don’t need to earn currency. Games on Apple Arcade do not have in-app purchases. That means developers have an opportunity to think more about their in-game economy. Jetpack Joyride 2 The model to emulate.
my biggest disappointment Jetpack Joyride 2 I mean it ended much sooner than I had hoped for. The build I played had 30 levels and it all ended when I beat the last level with about 5 hours of total play time. The in-game map has a message that more levels are “coming soon,” but Apple spokeswoman Jennifer Tam said the company has not shared when the new levels will be available. I said nothing. You can play to the final level or complete small arcade challenges to increase your in-game currency, but since you’ve already “cleared” the game, there isn’t much reason to do so. There is none.
Despite the abrupt end, I still liked it Jetpack Joyride 2 More than any mobile game in years. If you’re even slightly interested, I think Apple Arcade is worth checking out for the $4.99 monthly fee. Depending on when developer Halfbrick adds new levels, Jetpack Joyride 2 It may not offer enough to keep you paying for just over a month. But there’s no doubt that I’ll be back soon whenever a new level pops up.
Jetpack Joyride 2 will be available exclusively to Apple Arcade subscribers on August 19th.
