return to the beginning PS VR Tech Demo, Kayak VR: Mirage is one of those games just for you. need Try on PSVR2The premise is very simple. Hop aboard a kayak and use your PSVR2 Sense controller to explore a variety of exotic locations. That’s really all there is to it, but that’s the point.
Most notably, Kayak VR’s graphics are absolutely stunning. Look around in awe as you move into beautiful and serene scenery, including gently swaying palm trees and dusty red cliffs.and the waterThis is some of the best water in video games! It’s so good to be so frustrated that you can’t tip your kayak for a quick swim. The visuals combine upbeat ambient music with natural sounds for a gorgeous Zen experience. Often we would kayak out into the Norwegian open sea to sit back and take it all in.
It takes us to the mechanics of the kayak. It’s amazingly detailed and easy to lose control in the early sessions. Thankfully there’s an indoor pool to try out all your moves, but you’ll have to lean left and right to make sure you’re paddling evenly. Even how deep the paddle goes into the water affects things like turning and forward speed.
We spent most of our time free-roaming, but for those who love all the effort, or none at all, there are Race and Tour modes. With no multiplayer support at launch and only four locations to explore, it won’t last long.
Despite this, however, Kayak VR: Mirage is still a great showcase for the tech and will no doubt be one of the first titles your friends will try out. It may not be much, but there’s no denying the tranquil experience it offers.
