With Perry’s work on the John Wick franchise and his longtime friendship and working partnership with director Chad Stahelski, he began receiving many scripts for his first directing projects. Most of these scripts, however, focused on traumatic experiences in the military.Perry, an Army veteran, was not interested in such work.

“People sent me scripts and they were all darker,” he says. “And since I was in the army, [they were all], Oh this is about a PTSD guy with a sniper who has PTSD When Oh, I want you to do a movie like John Wick,And, I, well i did it“

That changed when Perry found out day shifta movie in which Fox’s vampire hunter Bud Jablonski must team up with friends old and new to mend his relationship with the Vampire Hunters Guild and take down a bunch of bad guys to secure a big score.
