As we look forward to 2023 with great anticipation, Nippon Ichi Software is pleased to announce some exciting news as we celebrate our 30th anniversary. This milestone means a lot to us, and with it, we’re thrilled to announce Disgaea 7: Vow of Immorality and Rhapsody: Merr Kingdom Chronicles, coming to PlayStation consoles this year!
Nippon Ichi Software has released an extensive catalog of role-playing games over the last 30 years, but perhaps none are more iconic than Disgaea. With the release of his Disgaea: Hour of Darkness on his PS2 in 2003, the series celebrates its 20th anniversary, along with both NIS America and the death of his own Disgaea, Prinny. With all that in mind, it seems fitting that Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless will release this fall.
2023 also marks the 25th anniversary of Rhapsody. Since the release of “Rhapsody Musical Adventure” on PlayStation® in 1998, the series has been known for its charming characters and quirky music. With Rhapsody: Marl Kingdom Chronicles, we are very happy to continue this story by bringing both Rhapsody II: Ballad of the Little Princess and Rhapsody III: Memories of Marl Kingdom to the West for the first time.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Nippon Ichi Software for the past 30 years! We hope you are looking forward to these new titles as much as we are. We are happy to share details about them.
Disgaea 7: Vow of Immorality
Hinomoto’s demon world is changing, and the age of noble warriors is coming to an end. Bushido, the moral code of values, ethics and lifestyles practiced by the inhabitants, has been replaced by the code of Hinomoto Destruction. Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless follows lazy warrior Fuji and bushido fangirl Piririka as they discover the true meaning of honor and redemption while battling an improbable regime against an tyrannical regime. It’s a story about finding allies.
Releasing on both PS4 and PS5, the title includes some features both old and new.
Character class: Disgaea 7 includes over 40 character classes, including four new additions: Maico, Bandit, Zombie Maiden, and Big Eye.
Auto Battle: Returning to Disgaea 7, once you’ve completed a level, you can play it again by engaging enemies in auto-battles.
Online Ranked Battles: For the first time in the series, AI-driven Ranked Battles let you take on other players online. A system that creates the optimal strategy according to the opponent’s action pattern and the characteristics of the stage. Accumulating wins will improve your rating, but losing will lower your rank.
Item incarnation: Similar to the character reincarnation mechanic in previous Disgaea games, items can now be reincarnated and transformed into something entirely different. The more you do it, the more powerful your items will be!
Hell mode: Some characters have a “Health Gauge” that fills up during battle. Once maxed out, it switches to “Hell Mode”, gaining stats and unlocking unique skills.
sightseeing: If you bring peace to the area of Hinomoto, please stop by. Learn about the residents of Hinomoto who have returned to normal life. There is bonus dialogue and the opportunity to recruit new allies (after defeating them in battle, of course).
Jumbification: Each character in Disgaea 7 can supersize themselves and grow in both size and strength. This will increase your stats and damage output. Enemies can do the same, so be careful!
Disgaea 7: Vow of Immorality, releasing Fall 2023 on PS4 and PS5. Text options include both English and French, and there are English and Japanese voice options.
