Years of waiting have grown into Return to Monkey Island’s glorious opening month. We love this game (the glowing 9/10 reviews prove it), and we’re thrilled to announce that Devolver Digital has made Guybrush Ulysses Threepwood’s fantastic return to becoming the best-selling game in the series. It seems we weren’t the only ones concerned.
The game developer made this announcement the way all Monkey Island news should be delivered – a brief congratulatory message from Stan S. Stanman (don’t expect an answer about his imprisonment).
With the jazzy Monkey Island beat and Stan’s muppet-like arm swing as he confirms the success of the game, it’s easy to see why Return to Monkey Island was such a short-lived hit.
Of course, the game world is a completely different scene than the last time we saw the Monkey Island title (Technically Speaking of Tales of Monkey Island in 2009, Monkey Island II As such, it’s no surprise that the latest title is selling faster than any other.
Again, a month is a very short amount of time, and the year of the game’s release does not belittle the stellar numbers and clear praise for Ron Gilbert’s return. So when is the physical release?
