Carefully treading the line between horror and psychological thriller, run rabbit run Performer Inheritance‘s Sarah Snook plays a fertility doctor named Sarah. While Sarah still carries her grief over the loss of her mother, her daughter Mia (Lily Latorre) begins to behave very strangely. Specifically, Mia calls herself “Alice” and claims she “want to meet her mother.” As it turns out, Alice disappeared in the name of Sarah’s sister and at about the same age as Mia, but Sarah didn’t tell Mia about it. Things only get weirder and creepier from there.
As the film progresses, Mia disappears into Alice’s persona, knowing things only Alice knows. As her life unfolds, Sarah is forced to delve into her past and confront her repressed memories and her grief over Alice’s disappearance.Here is run rabbit run It really shines, especially compared to other recent horror films that delve into trauma.

Mia transforms from a source of Sarah’s worries as her parent to a source of grief as her sister.Instead of talking about her protagonist’s trauma, director Dinah Reed cuts straight into it (Apple TV’s shining girls) can distort more surreal images and realities, twisting Sarah’s world and distorting it through the lens of her pain, sorrow, and possibly repressed memories. It’s a powerful, often disturbing combination that gives the film an eerie atmosphere and some of its most effective and terrifying moments.
The film’s directness doesn’t quite alleviate all the problems plaguing the recent wave of traumatizing horror films. Most specifically, the ending feels a little too clean compared to its predecessor, especially with some of the surreal imagery missing. It makes the rest of the final act so harrowing in favor of a scene that’s too pretty to fade from memory. However, even if the landing does not stick completely, run rabbit run is one of the most interesting Netflix releases this year so far, and definitely one of the better options for horror.
