The spin-off was released in Early Access and will feature 4 characters, 30 or so guns, 10 or so enemies, 1-3 bosses, and 3-5 biomes to explore with the same mission-based extraction gameplay. Promised. Buy permanent upgrades for future missions with your loot. Perhaps most intriguing is the continued mining and the same kind of procedural caving that is known for Deep Rock Galactic.
“Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is a single-player Survivor-like auto-shooter,” read the very excited description of the game. “Wielding all weapons of Deep Rock Galactic, confronting deadly alien hordes, mining riches and unlocking powerful upgrades. His one dwarf against all of Planet Hoxes!”
(A quick digression, can’t you call it “Survivor Lover”? Survival is already an established genre, and this is uncomfortably close.)
Trailers and screenshots released so far show a wide variety of guns, from pistols and miniguns to flamethrowers, shotguns and autocannons. There is also a classic looking spinning orb shield. Enemies hit the orb, enemies boom, and the orb returns after a while. Interestingly, the player seems to have some sort of weapon slot his system. That means he can switch guns instead of firing them all at once like in other Survival games.
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor will be published by DRG’s original developer, Ghost Ship, but will be developed by Exterior Studios. funday gameWith the success of Deep Rock Galactic prompting small Danish studio Ghost Ship to embark on publishing in the first place, it’s pretty cute to see DRG franchised, so it’s not much of a surprise.
