I’m Ryuta Matsushita, the director of Koei Tecmo’s new action RPG “Fate/Samurai Remnant”.
The Fate series tells the story of the Holy Grail War, in which seven masters summon servants, heroic spirits of all ages and countries, and fight over the Holy Grail, a magical object that can grant any wish.
The original was a big hit in Japan as an adventure game, and later became a TV anime series and a movie series, and the story of the characters whose fate is influenced by the Holy Grail War depicted in each work is strongly reflected. Continue.
The latest in the series, Fate/Samurai Remnant, is set in 17th-century Japan, where players take on the role of master samurai Iori Miyamoto in a new Holy Grail War, the Waning Moon Ritual.
A Holy Grail War full of secrets and unpredictability
Part of the charm of the Fate series is the secrets that color the story itself, so you need to be creative when introducing that charm to your friends, especially if you want to avoid spoilers.
First, the real name of each Servant is unknown. This is because each Servant is a prominent figure in history, and if their true identities become known to their enemies, their anecdotes will reveal their fighting styles and weaknesses.
Even in the Colosseum, their battles are not fair and square, and unfair developments continue due to conspiracy and deception, and participants are unfairly stripped of their right to participate!
In Fate/Samurai Remnant, the main character, Iori Miyamoto, goes against his will and gets involved in such an unreasonable battle. Her Iori is attacked at her home in the middle of the night by Ryder, a participant in her ritual, and is critically injured in her first battle. She then summons a Saber-class Servant.
Master and Servant Buddy Action
The game progresses through the combat and exploration sections from Iori’s point of view, accompanied by Saber.
Iori is a master swordsman and can also use fire magic.
However, even Iori’s sword and magic are no match for the Servants and monsters (many of which are in the form of traditional Japanese monsters) that appear under the influence of the waxing moon ritual.
In order to oppose that unrealistic power, it is necessary to borrow the tremendous power of a Servant.
Saber blows away a large number of monsters with a single swing, and pushes away enemy Servants with the force of a fierce water current.
Saber is a selfish and free-spirited combat genius who watches over Iori from a delicate distance as she fights her enemies. But if I get into a pinch, Saber will immediately intervene and help me.
During the fierce battle with the enemy, Saber shouts, “Iori, come on!” come here! “This is the signal that the two will work together to unleash a technique. If you take Saber’s hand, you can shoot a stream of water from the air, ride Saber’s sword and charge the enemy with a magical jet ski, etc. You can unleash Link Strike.
The combined attack can also be activated by Iori asking Saber for help. These techniques are called “compatibility techniques”, and can be released at any time by consuming the compatibility gauge by command operation, and can be incorporated into combos.
Samurai town where masters and servants live
As the name suggests, the Intimacy Gauge is a power charged by Saber and Iori’s intimacy, and can be accumulated not only in joint battles but also in the exploration part of the game.
Saber acts like a ruthless fighting machine most of the time, but is also very interested in the unfamiliar culture and lifestyle of 17th-century Japan. As a tourist guide, Iori will show you all the new sights and food stalls.
But that’s not all. There are cats and dogs everywhere in town. Pets are not only adorable, but they are also healing spots for the two main characters.
