Today we are happy to announce that we are releasing the first major update of 2023. We call it Fractal (version 4.1).
The Fractal Update introduces the chance to earn the Utopia Speeder, a fascinating and exclusive new starship that allows travelers to glide across the planet’s surface at high speeds.
It also launches a new expedition – Utopia – that challenges players to work together to rebuild an abandoned solar system for the mysterious Utopia Foundation. Not everything is as expected, and a new expedition-specific crafting mechanic forces players to think about exploration, construction, and survival in a whole new way. Other expedition rewards include the exclusive new Fearsome Visor Helmet, Robot Drone Companion, and more.
Exploration-minded players also have a new tool, the brand-new Wonders Catalogue. It shows the most incredible finds, from the tallest mountains to the strangest creatures. This detailed record of your journey not only makes it easier to compare records with fellow travelers, but it also provides new goals for explorers to find and document the most unusual sights in the universe.
The options menu has also been completely reworked, introducing a number of new accessibility features to give players even more control over how the game is played and experienced. Additionally, these new system features and controls are supplemented with further in-game quality of life changes and improvements.
2022 has been a very busy year for No Man’s Sky with major free updates like Sentinel, Outlaws, Leviathan, Endurance and Waypoint, plus a series of expeditions. An even bigger year is planned for 2023, and Fractal is just the starting point.
