Rediter Clashmains_2 account If Nvidia isn’t going to make a mini-ITX version of the RTX 3060 Founders Edition, they’ve decided to make a lovely pint-sized GPU in-house.
The modded graphics card is Gainward RTX 3060 Pegasus with modifications like custom shroud and heatsink. These components were designed using CAD and 3D printed to mimic the look of the Nvidia Founders Edition GPU’s metal case. Additionally, Clashmains incorporates a 92mm Noctua fan much like those found in the Founders Edition (and provides better cooling).
Unfortunately, this is a test build, so it’s more for show than overclocking. During testing, Clashmains found that the PLA filament used to print the part softened and began to deform around 60 degrees Celsius. Additionally, the bits holding the fan in place also started to warp downward when hot, but the larger printed parts were unaffected during testing.
In a Reddit thread, Crashmains acknowledged that there are some “poor spots” on the project. They say that in future builds he plans to use more heat-resistant filaments such as ABS and PETG, so his 3D-printed parts of the custom GPU won’t deform or melt. It is hoped that this will be ensured.
There has never been a mini-ITX Founders Edition GPU from Nvidia. It’s heartening to see someone try it, but maybe an executive will find this Reddit post and make our collective dream come true. Considering this is his first 3D printing project for Clashmains, it’s commendable and we look forward to witnessing progress in refining the design in subsequent attempts.
