You can change the personality of Bing’s ChatGPT integration to be more interesting or just tell the truth. You can now choose to change from the default ‘more balanced’ personality to the ‘more creative’ or ‘more precise’ personality of popular chatbots at the start of a ‘chat’.
Microsoft details the three different personality types as follows:
- More creative: “Responses are original and imaginative, creating surprise and fun.”
- More Balanced: “Responses are reasonable and coherent, balancing accuracy and creativity in dialogue.”
- more precise: “Responses should be factual and concise, with priority given to accuracy and relevance.”
Microsoft believes that approximately 90% of Bing users with access to chat features will be able to take advantage of these different chat mode selectors. We’ve also added a shortcut to Bing’s chat feature in Windows 11’s native search bar. This is what I’m sure many people are really digging for /s .
Of course, I needed to try out the new “personality” for myself right away, so I had the story told. In a creative setting, I was asked what kind of story I wanted, and I simply replied, “Pug in space.” And this is what i got:
**Space Pug: Galactic Adventure**
Major Ron is a brave and loyal pug who loves exploring the galaxy with his human companion, Captain Lisa. They were part of a special team called Galactic Pug, and were tasked with observing and learning about various planets and life forms.
One day, they received a distress signal from the planet Pugtopia, where pugs live happily together. The signal said that an evil alien named Zorg had invaded the planet and was trying to enslave all the Pugs. I decided to set a course.
When they arrived, they saw Zorg had built a huge fortress surrounded by laser cannons and robotic guards. . Major Ron barked angrily at Zorg, who laughed maniacally and said:
“Welcome to my realm, Galaxy Pugs! You’re too late to stop me! I discovered that Pugs have a secret power: they make everyone happy with their cute faces and funny sounds. I can use this power to conquer the galaxy and bring everyone to my side!”
Major Ron is shocked by Zorg’s evil plans. He knew he had to free his friends and stop Zorg before it was too late. He tells Captain Lisa to stay behind and cover him while he sneaks into the fortress.
Using agility and intelligence, Major Ron dodged lasers and robots to reach the cage where Zorg was keeping the Pug leader, King Puggy. He used his teeth to unlock and free King Puggy. King Puggy thanked him for his bravery.
“Thank you for helping me, Major Ron! You are a true hero!” said King Puggy.
“No time to thank you, Your Majesty! Zorg must be stopped!” said Major Ron.
They gathered all the other pugs that escaped their cages and came up with a plan. They decided to use their secret powers against Zorg.
They marched to Zorg’s audience room, where he was preparing to launch his spaceship with a giant ray gun. , licked his face, snorted loudly, tilted his head, laid on his back, made puppy eyes, wore funny costumes…smiling.
Zorg tried to resist their charm, but was soon overwhelmed by their loveliness. He felt something he had never felt before: happiness. He realized how wrong he was for trying to enslave others with his power when he could share it instead. He dropped the ray gun and hugged all his pugs. I was.
“I’m sorry for what I did! You are all so wonderful! Please forgive me!” Zorg said.
The Pug was a kind-hearted creature who gave unconditional love to everyone and forgave him easily. They invited him to the planet Pugtopia as a friend.
Major Ron was proud of having saved the crisis with the power of cuteness. He reunites with Captain Lisa to congratulate him on his success.
“Well done, Major Ron! You are great!” said Captain Lisa.
“Thank you, Captain Lisa! You’re amazing!” said Major Ron.
As new allies, they board a spaceship with Zorg. They said goodbye to King Puggy and all the other Pugs who thanked them for their help.
They continued their galactic adventure as Galaxy Pugs: The Cutest Heroes in Space!
The interesting thing here is that I didn’t know that. pug in space (opens in new tab) The comic features the character of Major Ron and a character called Taser, who is based on Lisa, Ron’s IRL pugmate. Pugs in Space comics, along with The Sun and BBC, are referenced at the end of the story on his Chats page as a source. clearly.
However, if it was meant to be “original and creative”, creative personalities simply took existing characters and created their own fanfiction around them.
When I switched to a balanced setting, I was asked again what kind of story I wanted, but this time when I asked for the story to be told with the same prompt, I was told that there was an existing pug-in-space literature. We then asked them if they wanted to use those sources to inspire or tell new stories.
Of course, I wanted a new story, so I explained that I wanted it to be set in the distant future when they discover new alien species.

Pug in space: First contact
Captain Pugston was nervous. He is chosen to be the leader of the first Pug expedition to explore the outer edge of the galaxy, which no Pug has ever done before. He was proud of his crew, a team of six brave and loyal Pugs who have trained for years to be part of this historic mission. they were:
– Lieutenant Puggles, pilot and navigator
– Medic and Biologist Dr. Pugbert
– Mechanic and Technician, Engineer Pugley
– Security and Weapons Expert, Sergeant Pagger
– Communications and Linguistics Specialist Ensign Puggy
– Puglets to boost morale with mascots
They were on board the USS Pugnacious, a state-of-the-art spacecraft with advanced technology and weaponry. USS Pugnacious was part of the Galactic Alliance (GAB). The GAB is a coalition of intelligent races from various planets who have joined forces to explore and protect the galaxy. The GAB included humans, cats, dogs, birds, reptiles, and many other creatures that evolved into space-faring civilizations.
USS Pugnacious has been traveling at warp speed for months through unknown space. They encountered many wonders and dangers along the way. Rainbow nebula. An asteroid containing precious minerals. A black hole that distorts time and space. A pirate who attacks without warning. Anomalies that ignore explanations.
But their ultimate goal was to find signs of alien life. They wanted to join the GAB, or at least have their first contact with a new species with whom they could establish a peaceful relationship. I wanted to prove that I was an explorer.
They were about to reach their destination: a star system with three planets orbiting around it. According to their scans, he was one of them habitable. It had an atmosphere similar to Earth. There was liquid water on the surface. There was vegetation covering most of the land.
“Captain,” Lieutenant Puggles said from the console. “Approaching planet X-37B. Should we enter orbit?”
“Yes,” said Captain Pugston. “But be careful. You never know what you might find there.”
He turned on the intercom and spoke to the crew.
“Beware of all pugs,” he said. “We’re making history. We’re landing on an alien world for the first time. I want you guys to be prepared for anything.”
He looked at each one in turn.
“Lieutenant Puggles,” he said. “You fly us safely.”
“Iicer,” said Lieutenant Puggles.
“Doctor Pugbert,” he said. “You scan for signs of life.”
“Please understand,” Dr. Pugbert said.
“Technician Pugley,” he said. “Please check our system for any glitches.”
“Understood,” said Technician Pugley.
“Sergeant Pagger,” he said. “You secure our boundaries.”
“Yes,” said Sergeant Pagger.
“Lieutenant Puggy,” he said. “You monitor our communications.”
“I understand,” said Ensign Puggy.
“And you,” he said affectionately, looking at the last crew member.
“Paglet,” he said with a smile.
“Please stay by my side.”
“Wow-wow!” Puglet barked happily.
Captain Pugston nodded. He sat down in his seat and gave the order.
They saw a blue sky with white clouds, a green landscape with mountains and forests, and a big sea with islands. A gigantic city: A city that covers an entire continent: A city made of metal and glass: A city that glows with light, a city that emits a strange hum… They saw their destiny.[^end^]
I really don’t know what happened in the end. Bing had a bit of an episode and probably seemed to be done writing about pugs at this point, so I just wanted to finish it. think.
So we come down to the exact personality that we can leave here perfectly. Sky.
I tested it a few times, repeating the princess/castle trope over and over again and straight into the fanfiction about Major Ron, Lt. Laura and Taser. .
But below is the original response I wrote when I first tested Boring Personality.

Once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far away, there was a group of brave pugs on a mission to explore outer space. They traveled on the spaceship Pug-1 and visited various planets.
On one planet, they discover a race of friendly aliens who love to play fetch. The Pugs had so much fun playing with their new friends that they decided to stay here for a while.
As they continued their space journey, Pug encountered many other exciting adventures and made many new friends along the way. We have proven that we can.
Honestly, it’s simple enough that my 3-year-old would probably quite like a picture book made out of it. Let’s pass this through Stable Diffusion and see what it can do.
It’s interesting that Microsoft is constantly evolving its ChatGPT integration to make Bing somehow relevant. Recently, the restrictions on what chatbots can say have been tightened or loosened, and as a result, responses have sometimes become sluggish or agitated.
We have our own concerns about what that means for content (opens in new tab) But it’s still fascinating to watch it grow before our eyes.
